American Red Cross

American Red Cross serves as the link between military and civilian worlds, providing emergency communications between Soldiers and their Families, as well as the reporting service for emergency leave to include personal and other family issues. Emergency Leave and Army Emergency Relief are usually unavailable without Red Cross validation. To initiate a Red Cross Message, contact 1-877-272-7337 with the following information: • Who is the emergency regarding and what is their relationship to the Service Member (e.g., mother, father, brother, sister, grandparents)? • What type of emergency (e.g., death, illness, disaster, childcare breakdown, etc.)? • What is the location of the emergency? • When did the emergency occur? Is there a timetable of other events in conjunction with the emergency (such as funeral or other arrangements)? • Who is the local Point Of Contact, and how can they be reached (e.g. the name, relationship, and telephone number of a relative or friend in the area who knows details)?

Army Family Action Plan (AFAP)

Army Family Action Plan

The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) is a grassroots-level process that identifies issues of concern for the GLOBAL Army. AFAP is a program that gives everyone in the Army Family the opportunity to influence his/her own quality of life and standard of living. Fort Rucker hosts an annual AFAP conference that brings together representatives of the TOTAL ARMY FAMILY. These representatives, serving as conference delegates, evaluate, prioritize, and make recommendations on issues affecting the quality of life at Fort Rucker and throughout the Army. Issues are accepted by the AFAP Coordinator or through My Army OneSource, https://www.myarmyonesource.com, year round.

Army Volunteer Corps

The Army Volunteer Corps focuses on supporting Fort Rucker Soldiers, Family members including surviving spouses, and Civilians through community involvement. Volunteer opportunities are available both on- and off-post. Individuals are matched to volunteer positions according to skill, experience, and time availability. Childcare is offered for some activities. Participants learn new skills, make friends, and become a part of the community. Volunteering can also be a wonderful way to gain job experience. The 71st Military Police Detachment (CID) is located at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The 71st's core mission is to provide the highest quality criminal investigative support to the following major supported Commands: U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center, U.S. Army Air Traffic Services Command (ATSCOM), U.S. Army Installation Management Command, U.S. Army Aviation Center Logistics Command, Warrant Officer Career College and Joint Forces Training Center (MSARNG), Camp Shelby, MS. The 71st conducts felony investigations in which the Army has an interest within the Southern and Central counties of Alabama, the Southern and Eastern counties of Mississippi and seven counties within the lower portion of Georgia.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a variety of program services to address various problems/issues/concerns; primarily focused at alleviating issues that affect Civilian employees' ability to conduct their job. EAP services include, but are not limited to, assessment, short-term counseling and coaching, prevention education services, and referral to off-site providers, when necessary. The EAP also provides employee-supervisor consultation, guidance, advice, and mediation to minimize issues affecting the employee-supervisor working relationship and agency's productivity. These services are provided to sustain productivity, reduce employee absenteeism, and provide a safe and secure work environment, while ensuring the Army's mission is accomplished in the most efficient manner. Additionally, the EAP also provides services for military or civilian family members of Department of the Army Civilians to enhance their well-being.

Family Readiness Group

Family Readiness is a lifestyle for Soldiers and their Families. Family Readiness assists Families in being proactive, instead of reactive to the challenges of military life. It ensures Families are prepared to handle whatever challenges come their way... •Relocation challenges (moving overseas, duty move vs. Army move, local school information) •Natural Disasters (hurricanes/tornados/earthquakes) •Separation challenges (Temporary Duty (TDY) training assignments, deployments, field exercises) •Family challenges (stress, parenting, and well-being - both emotional and physical) Our goal at Fort Rucker is to assist our Soldiers and their Families everyday by equipping, educating, and empowering them with the tools to be "ready" through Family Readiness Groups (FRGs) at the unit level. Never Forgotten Card

The Fort Rucker Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (DFMWR) offers the Never Forgotten Card, a discount and activity card for Families (spouses, children, parents, and siblings under the age of 18) of Fallen Service members. The Never Forgotten Card program includes everyday benefits including an extra discount at on- and off-post facilities. The Never Forgotten Card is provided in recognition of the sacrifices of Survivors and demonstrates our commitment to provide quality programs and services to help enhance quality of life.
