A Family training and readiness program which provides participants with an undersanding of Army culture and the skills and resources needed to become self-reliant, self-sufficient members of the military community. Provides employment assistance to active duty, reserve component, transitioning, and retired Soldiers, Family Members, and DOD Civilian employees in acquiring new skills, networks, and resources that will allow them to participate in the work force and develop career/work plan.

Provides education, training, and counseling in personal financial readiness. Topics include: wealth building, financial life skills training, retirement planning, indebtedness, consumer advocacy and protection, money management, credit, financial planning, insurance, identify theft, and consumer issues. Other services offered are mandatory personal financial readiness training for first-term Soldiers, the Thrift Savings Plan, Blended Retirement System Planning, Smooth Move (PCS), and financial readiness for deployed Soldiers and their Families. The Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program provides active duty, reserve units and guard units with pre and post deployment and mobilization briefings, Family Readiness Group assistance and training, information and referral services, resource materials, and Operation R.E.A.D.Y. Provides emergency financial assistance to Soldiers and their Families. Food, Rent Utilities, Emergency transportation and vehicle repair, funeral expenses, medical/dental expenses, personal needs when pay is delayed or stolen, other emergency financial needs.

Short-term assistance is provided on coordination with the Personal Financial Counselor, Army Emergency Relief Officer, the Chaplain Corps, and ASYMCA Food Pantry.

The Army Substance Abuse Prevention program provides a healthy installation environment, free of substance abuse and substance abuse related problems for Soldiers, Civilians, retirees and their Family Members. Physical therapy is a branch of rehabilitative health that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities. Bassett Army Community Hospital at Fort Wainwright is the primary medical treatment facility for Soldiers, family members and retirees and their families. A Mandatory enrollment program that works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated community support, housing, educational, medical, personnel, and respite care services to Families with special needs. All family members must be screened for enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program before being granted command sponsorship in Alaska. Availability of specialized medical care is limited in Alaska, so some medical problems cannot be supported here. The MIAT (formerly SNAP) is a special needs accommodation process which identifies children requiring special medical or educational supports or any other additional accommodations while they participate in any Child, Youth or School Services (CYSS) on the installation. The MIAT team which consists of EFMP staff, CYSS staff, Army Public Health Nurse and Parents will meet and determine what supports are needed and if those needs can be met while in care.

The Army FAP is committed to preventing domestic and child abuse and neglect by providing a variety of services to strengthen Army families and enhance resiliency. The FAP includes prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and treatment in support of Soldiers and families. FAP provides military Families with prevention services and educational programs, including: Emergency Placement, Respite Care, Victim Advocacy, FAP Education and Prevention, New Parent Support Office, Home Visits and Education, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, Support Groups and Enrichment Classes, and Alternative services.

Chena Bend Golf Course, the "Farthest North Military Course", is a 6,476 yard, par-72, 18-hole course. It is nestled between the east end of the Fort Wainwright airfield and the Chena River, with several holes running along the river. SAC is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and serves children in Kindergarten through sixth grades. SAC provides before and after school care with age appropriate child centered activities. Stimulating activities are offered in a variety of environments which include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, games, technology, performing arts, science and a homework assistance program. A full size gymnasium is used by all ages for their physical development. The program provides opportunities to participate in 4H and Boys and Girls Clubs of America activities. SAC is also open full time during the summer and during school breaks to offer camps with a variety of activities and field trips.

School Support Services (SSS) provides Army school-aged youth with educational opportunities, resources and information necessary to achieve academic success. A branch of Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS), SSS is home to the School Liaison Office, where School Liaison Officers (SLOs) help deliver the best educational resources and information for your children.

The Warrior Zone is a modern multi-purpose entertainment center for Soldiers to socialize in their free time. We offer the space to relax, play video games, surf the web, watch movies, and play various games such as billiards, table tennis, and poker. Troops gather to watch sporting events on several large, high-definition, flat-screen TVs, while eating, gaming, and mingling.

Youth in 6th-12th grade are offered a range of positive options that promote healthy development and ease youth transition to adulthood. Youth Services Programs encompass a variety of safe, supervised alternatives (weekdays during out of school hours, evening, and weekends) . Baseline activities include youth councils and sponsorship, volunteer community services, games and leisure, technology lab, homework assistance, sports and fitness, and workforce preparation

Children between the ages of five and eighteen can be kept busy with the many team and individual sports offered by CYS Services Sports and Fitness. Through these activities youth engage in healthy physical activity, make friends, learn social and athletic skills as well as good sportsmanship. Sports offered include, but are not limited to, archery, indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, t-ball, baseball, flag football, basketball and cheerleading. Army Installation Industrial Hygienists typically conduct IAQ Surveys at the request of their clients. Mold growth issues are often a part of an IAQ issue, and addressed at the same time. IAQ and mold growth can occur in any indoor space, and often are caused by a number of issues including but not limited to heating, ventilating and air conditioning issues, water intrusion (flooding, roof leaks, and plumbing issues), improper maintenance, and exposure to elements.

The USARAK Inspector General inquires into and provides the Commanding General a continuous assessment of USARAK’s readiness, discipline, efficiency, economy, morale, training, and operational effectiveness. Provide assistance, investigations, inspections, and teaching/training support to Soldiers, commanders, civilians, and family members.

Attorneys are available to provide advice and assistance concerning personal legal problems to service members, retirees and their dependents. The office provides advice and services that include notarization of documents, powers of attorney, wills, adoptions, divorces and dissolutions of marriage, child support, landlord-tenant and real estate matters, vehicle purchases, debt problems and other legal issues. Guidance is provided on myriad other legal situations, such as assistance on replies to financial liability investigations, NCOER and OER appeals, and obtaining stays of court proceedings under the Service members’ Civil Relief Act. Provides non-medical short-term, situational problem solving counseling to Service Members and their families. Provides psycho-education to help Service Members and their families understand the impact of stress, deployments, family reunions following deployments and the stresses of military life.

Depending on the number of PCS rotations and size of families departing, the wait for a home can range from two months to a year at Fort Wainwright and from no wait to a year at Fort Greely. Typically, more than a third of the families assigned to Fort Wainwright live off post in the Fairbanks North Star Borough for part of their tour of duty. All military members must process through the Housing Services Office (HSO) prior to entering into any rental or sales agreement. Fort Wainwright’s HSO is in the Welcome Center, Building 3401, Santiago Road.

The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is an annual drinking water quality report prepared by an organization that provides drinking water through a community water system. The US EPA requires that water purveyors for community water systems provide a CCR to their customers by July 1st every year. Information contained in the CCR includes the source of drinking water, applicable water quality requirements, and water system monitoring results for the previous year.

We offer a variety of public health nursing services outside of the health center in the community setting. Examples include our monthly immunization clinic at the North Pole Fire Department, Breastfeeding Class, weekly New Parents Clinic in cooperation with Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, and postpartum follow up for clients. We also coordinate a Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at our health center twice a year in collaboration with a variety of community health partners.

A Christian-based organization. Serves homeless men, women, and children from the entire Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) community and the outlying rural areas. Emergency services includes three hot meals, a bed each night, clothing, and a safe environment for a period not to exceed 180 days from the initial check-in date. Each individual who spends more than 30 days at the Mission will be required to meet with the case manager to establish a plan that moves them toward independence and self-sufficiency. This approach keeps the client's focus on moving out of the shelter, overcoming the circumstances, and gives clients tools and information about our community

Provides programs to address domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, suicide intervention, and crisis services for victims of other violent crimes. Includes emergency shelter to survivors (and their children) who are in need of safe housing.

Established in 1980, TEEN LINE is a nonprofit, community-based organization helping troubled teenagers address their problems. It is our mission to provide personal teen-to-teen education and support before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, current technologies and community outreach.

State Health Department Deputy State Epidemiologist. The deputy state epidemiologist assists the state epidemiologist in providing scientific and epidemiological expertise. While not all states have a deputy state epidemiologist, those that do have an additional subject matter expert resource for public health and epidemiology.

The Housing Environmental Health Response Registry is a resource for residents (ALL DoD, including AF and Navy) to report current and/or past housing-related health information and concerns. Registry participants will receive information on in-home environmental health, assistance in seeking medical care, and an opportunity to share concerns with Army leadership. State Health Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program Each state health department has an infectious disease epidemiology program. The contact information provided is for the chief infectious disease epidemiologist in that program. Within these programs, each state conducts disease surveillance, collects information on reportable diseases from all healthcare providers and hospitals, and from local and regional health departments. Each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program investigates disease outbreaks, analyzes and distributes information on the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases. State Environmental Health Laboratory Each state has an environmental health laboratory that supports statewide environmental health protection monitoring by performing analyses for chemical, microbiological, and radiological testing, biomonitoring of water, wastewater, air, soil, hazardous wastes, and other environmental concerns. Many state environmental health laboratories are associated with that state’s public health laboratory.

State Health Department Lead State Epidemiologist, each state has an appointed primary state epidemiologist, responsible for the identification and response for all health threats that occur within that state. This individual is selected by each state’s primary health official (usually the state health department director), or the state board of health. A state epidemiologist is usually responsible for each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program, often along with many other state health agency programs involved in disease detection and prevention.

Each state has a public health laboratory that conducts laboratory testing for most all analysis requirements for public health surveillance. This may include monitoring and detection testing for environmental health, food safety, infectious diseases, newborn screening, public health preparedness, radiation safety, and many other tests. All state public health laboratories are part of the National Laboratory Network, and respond to novel strains of disease, natural disasters, chemical spills, foodborne outbreaks, and other public health emergencies.

The Total Army Sponsorship Program provides the structure and foundation for units to welcome and help prepare soldiers, civilian employees, and family members for their new duty station in advance of their actual arrival. This program is available to soldiers in the active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and civilian employees assigned to positions within the Department of the Army. The sponsor is the key to helping the new soldier, civilian employee, and family get comfortably settled as quickly as possible, thereby putting his mind at rest so he can concentrate on his new duties as soon as possible.

Ready and Resilient (R2) is the Army's strategy for strengthening individual and unit Personal Readiness and fostering a culture of trust. R2 provides training and resources to the Army Family to enhance resilience and optimize performance. Services include: Master Resilience Trainer Certification (MRT-C): certifies Soldiers to teach resilience skills to units and family members (completion earns Soldiers an 8R identifier; Leader Development Course: develops mental, performance and leadership skills for Soldiers in leadership roles; Deployment Cycle Resilience Training (DCRT): certifies 8R to teach DCRT, which help prepare Soldiers and family members for deployment and return; Performance Enhancement Training: series of lessons teaching the performance psychology skills of Mindset, Imagery, Attention Control, Building Confidence and Goal Setting (one-on-one or groups, compliments PT); Engage: bystander intervention training to promotion prosocial behavior in order to help others engaging in risk-taking behavior; Not in My Squad (NIMS): facilitated discussion to identify Battalion-Level themes related to mutual trust and cohesion in order to empower squad leaders, inform Command Teams and improve trust and cohesion in Battalions; Academic Performance Training (APT): series of lessons teaching academic based skills in order to improve memory and recall, enhance note taking, improve studying, reduce test-taking anxiety and improve mindset toward learning.

The Fort Wainwright Religious Support Office (RSO) offers four worship services on post provided by Service Members and their Families and designed for Service Members and their Families. Southern Lights Chapel: Roman Catholic Mass at 0900 & Anglican Holy Communion at 1100 ; Northern Lights Chapel: General Protestant Worship at 1100 & Spanish-language Protestant Worship at 1300.

The Army’s SHARP program exists to prevent sexual harassment and sexual assaults before they occur. This program reinforces the Army’s commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through a comprehensive policy that centers on awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and accountability. Services are available for RESTRICTED (no command or law enforcement involvement) and UNRESTRICTED (full investigative process).

The Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) is a one-stop location for Warriors in Transition and their Families to get information and assistance. The following services may be coordinated through the SFAC: Entitlement and benefits counseling, military personnel services (such as ID cards), Educational services, transition/employment assistance, financial counseling, substance abuse information, legal and pastoral services, child care referral, accept and manage donations.

Assist Soldiers with the transition to civilian life to include resume assistance, education referral and support as the Soldiers ETS.

A multi-agency approach which embraces and reassures survivors that they are continually linked to the Army Family for as long as they desire. SOS fosters resiliency and ensures access to all entitled benefits, financial counseling/planning and long term support.

The USO is a 501c3 nonprofit military support organization. The mission of the USO is to connect service members with family, home and country throughout their service to our nation. The Ft Wainwright USO hosts a wellness center complete with a child play area and fitness equipment. USO Alaska supported the USO mission by offering a variety of programs and outreach initiatives to ease the challenges of service for Alaska’s military. Staff and volunteers delivered toys and food to military families across the holidays and supported homecomings and deployments, facilitated baby showers, pet therapy and other events to help strengthen the resiliency of military families coping with the unique challenges of military life in Alaska.

The Installation Safety Office provides direct safety guidance and safety program management to the U.S. Army Garrison Alaska organizations and provides base operational support to the U.S. Army in Alaska. Additionally, the Installation Safety Office provides safety awareness such as seasonal safety for the Civilians, Soldiers and their Families as well as Motorcycle safety training for Soldiers.

The clinic is located within Bassett Army Community Hospital on Ft. Wainwright as part of a VA/DoD interagency sharing agreement. The CBOC offers a health care program to veterans which includes health promotion, primary care, mental health care, women’s health care, orthopedics, audiology and case management. Laboratory and X-Ray are provided via services within Bassett Army Community Hospital.

Readjustment counseling - a wide range of psycho social services for eligible Veterans, Service members, and their families in an effort to make a successful transition from military to civilian life. Army Wellness Centers (AWC) provide standardized primary prevention programs and services designed to build and sustain good health and improve the overall healthy lifestyles of Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, and DA Civilians. Women, Infants and Children (WIC): WIC Supplementary Food Program is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, postpartum and breast-feeding mothers, and young children under the age of 5 eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. To apply, walk-ins are welcome just bring proof of income and identification.

Provides programs and services, and sponsors courtesy lounges at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Fairbanks International Airport. Low-cost transportation for all military personnel is provided through a shuttle van service. Operates the Thrift Store on Fort Wainwright at 102nd and Chestnut Street in the North Post area.
