Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to “Helping the Army Take Care of its Own”. AER provides financial assistance to Soldiers - active and retired, their family members, surviving spouses, and orphans who are experiencing a financial hardship. Army Reserve, National Guard, and their Family members are eligible when on continuous active duty under Title 10 orders for at least 30 consecutive days. Individual Counseling, Group Therapy

The Psychological Health Intensive Outpatient Program (PHIOP) provides enrolled active duty personnel with group and individual therapy, 3-4 hours per day, every day, for approximately one month. All service members must have a primary behavioral health care provider to be referred. PHIOP has tailored tracks to meet the needs of service members with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other common behavioral health concerns.

Labor & Delivery - Madigan

Madigan’s Labor & Delivery provides normal and high risk newborn patient care consisting of 18 adult beds and eight bassinets. There are seven birthing suites, two operating rooms, a six bed Triage/Monitoring area, four antepartum beds and a tub room for labor support. On average, we deliver 180 babies a month. We have a friendly staff of physicians and nurses who are committed to bringing you and your family current, safe and state-of-the-art medical care.

Medication Disposal - Unwanted / Expired

JBLM offers multiple secure receptacles for the safe disposal of unwanted, unused or expired medications. The blue MedSafe receptacles are located in the Madigan Main Pharmacy Lobby, the McChord Medical Clinic on McChord Field, the Okubo Soldier Centered Medical Home on Lewis North, Winder Clinic, and the Madigan-Puyallup Community Medical Home. Each of these receptacles feature a one-way “drop door” to securely dispose of medications during regular business hours. Accepted medications for disposal in the MedSafe include prescription and over-the counter medicines to include controlled-substance medications, vitamins, medicated lotions/ointments, liquid medication in leak-proof containers, and transdermal skin patches. Items that are not suitable for deposit in the MedSafe are needles (sharps), illegal drugs, aerosol spray cans (to include aerosol inhalers), and chemicals or hazardous waste.

Madigan Army Medical Center has several pharmacies available on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. These pharmacies are located in Madigan Army Medical Center, on JBLM Lewis Main, JBLM Lewis North, and McChord Field. At all Locations, when picking up prescriptions, you must have a military ID card for all patients’ ages 10 years and older. A photocopy of the patient's ID card may be used to pick up prescriptions.

Wounded Warrior Army Medical Readiness Assistance Program (AMRAP) (Replaced Ombudsman Program)

The Wounded Warrior Ombudsmen serve as a local resource, facilitator, and problem solver for Service Members and their Families. Ombudsmen are located in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and serve as a liaison between MEDCOM, the Soldier and Family member, the MTF commander, and the Warrior in Transition Unit (WTU) commander. The Ombudsman assists WTU and non-WTU Soldiers and their Families with medical related issues. The Wounded Soldier Family Hotline (WSFH) [(800) 984-8523] serves as a 24/7 resource to any beneficiary seeking assistance with a medical issue/concern including wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers, and military Caregivers. Whether you have questions about the Disability Evaluation System process, the VA Caregiver Program, or benefits, the WSFH and Ombudsmen are standing by to assist. Gate Operations

JBLM is a controlled access installation. Vehicles with an adult, authorized Department of Defense ID cardholder (18 or older) may enter JBLM through any open gate. Vehicles without an adult, authorized DOD ID cardholder (18 or older) present must report to the Visitor Control Center adjacent to either the Lewis Main Liberty Gate (I-5 exit 120) or McChord Field Main Gate (I-5 exit 125) to receive a Temporary Pass. To do this, you must have a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and have an adult, authorized DOD sponsor (18 or older) willing to sponsor your base access. Sponsors must be available by phone to complete the pass issuance process. Commercial vehicles will continue to use the McChord Commercial Vehicle Inspection Point (CVIP) for access to McChord Field and Lewis Main. Commercial vehicle access to Lewis North should use the Integrity Gate. When these gates are closed, commercial vehicles process at the Madigan Gate (I-5 exit 122A). JBLM uses Automated Installation Entry (AIE 3) for entry to the installation. Please see website below for further information.

The mission of the DEERS/ID Cards section is to ensure enrollment of all eligible DoD beneficiaries in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and to provide Common Access Card (CAC) issuance to Soldiers, Retirees and their family members as well as to Federal Civilian Employees, Contract Employees and all other DoD Uniformed Services beneficiaries. Special Needs Support - Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)

The Military offers enhanced support to Servicemembers who have special needs Family members through the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP). Those on active duty enroll in the program when they have a Family member with a physical, emotional, developmental, or intellectual disability requiring specialized services so their needs can be considered in the military assignment process. One-on-one, couple, or group — MFLCs can help you manage life challenges such as: Deployment adjustments Stress management Moving preparations and getting settled Relationship building A problem at work The grieving process following the death of a loved one or colleague Please note: duty to warn, suspected family maltreatment (domestic violence, child abuse or neglect), harm to self or others, and illegal activity are all exceptions to privacy. Air Quality Index

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a tool to communicate the status of local air quality to the public—the Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI is derived from real-time air pollution measurements taken at monitoring stations throughout the United States. The AQI has three components: a color, a score and a health message recommending protective action based on the level of air pollution.

Child Care Referrals - Fee Assistance

WA STATE DEPT OF SOCIAL & HEALTH SERVICES: Several state child care subsidy programs help eligible families with children pay child care costs. The most common is the Working Connections Child Care program which helps families who are working and have incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. State Environmental Health Laboratory

State Environmental Health Laboratory supports statewide environmental health protection monitoring by performing analyses for chemical, microbiological, and radiological testing, biomonitoring of water, wastewater, air, soil, hazardous wastes, and other environmental concerns. Many state environmental health laboratories are associated with that state’s public health laboratory.

State Epidemiologist

State Health Department Lead State Epidemiologist is an appointed primary state epidemiologist, responsible for the identification and response for all health threats that occur within that state. This individual is selected by each state’s primary health official (usually the state health department director), or the state board of health. A state epidemiologist is usually responsible for each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program, often along with many other state health agency programs involved in disease detection and prevention.
