Army Emergency Relief (AER) - Financial Assistance
Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to “Helping the Army Take Care of its Own”.
AER provides financial assistance to Soldiers - active and retired, their family members, surviving spouses, and orphans who are experiencing a financial hardship. Army Reserve, National Guard, and their Family members are eligible when on continuous active duty under Title 10 orders for at least 30 consecutive days. Assistance is provided in the form of no-interest loans, grants, or a combination of both based on financial circumstances.

Commander's Risk Reduction Toolkit (CRRT)
The CRRT provides commanders near real-time insights into their Soldiers individual readiness using personnel data covering more than 40 factors and employing a series of algorithms developed from a predictive behavioral model.
Training for Army Brigade Commanders and Command Sergeant Majors (CSMs), Battalion and Company Commanders and their principal NCOs (CSM/1SG) is completed through webinars provided by the Army Vantage Team once registered.

Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)

Gate Operations
JBLM is a controlled access installation. Vehicles with an adult, authorized Department of Defense ID cardholder (18 or older) may enter JBLM through any open gate. Vehicles without an adult, authorized DOD ID cardholder (18 or older) present must report to the Visitor Control Center adjacent to either the Lewis Main Liberty Gate (I-5 exit 120) or McChord Field Main Gate (I-5 exit 125) to receive a Temporary Pass. To do this, you must have a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and have an adult, authorized DOD sponsor (18 or older) willing to sponsor your base access. Sponsors must be available by phone to complete the pass issuance process. Commercial vehicles will continue to use the McChord Commercial Vehicle Inspection Point (CVIP) for access to McChord Field and Lewis Main. Commercial vehicle access to Lewis North should use the Integrity Gate. When these gates are closed, commercial vehicles process at the Madigan Gate (I-5 exit 122A). JBLM uses Automated Installation Entry (AIE 3) for entry to the installation.

The Psychological Health Intensive Outpatient Program (PHIOP) provides enrolled active duty personnel with group and individual therapy, 3-4 hours per day, every day, for approximately one month. Medication Disposal - Unwanted / Expired
JBLM offers multiple secure receptacles for the safe disposal of unwanted, unused or expired medications. The blue MedSafe receptacles are located in the Madigan Main Pharmacy Lobby, the McChord Medical Clinic on McChord Field, the Okubo Soldier Centered Medical Home on Lewis North, Winder Clinic, and the Madigan-Puyallup Community Medical Home. Each of these receptacles feature a one-way “drop door” to securely dispose of medications during regular business hours.
Accepted medications for disposal in the MedSafe include prescription and over-the counter medicines to include controlled-substance medications, vitamins, medicated lotions/ointments, liquid medication in leak-proof containers, and transdermal skin patches. Items that are not suitable for deposit in the MedSafe are needles (sharps), illegal drugs, aerosol spray cans (to include aerosol inhalers), and chemicals or hazardous waste.

State Public Health Laboratory
State Health Department Laboratory conducts laboratory testing for most all analysis requirements for public health surveillance. This may include monitoring and detection testing for environmental health, food safety, infectious diseases, newborn screening, public health preparedness, radiation safety, and many other tests. Joint Base Lewis-McChord Veterinary Treatment Facility is professionally staffed by Army Veterinary Corps personnel with the primary mission of providing complete veterinary care for all government owned animals.
For availability of services or to schedule an appointment please call the number listed below.
All pets living on post must be registered with the VTF upon arrival. On-Post Housing may limit the number and breed of pets that can live in on-post housing. Contact on-post housing for more information.
Due to our limited manpower and resources, most veterinary emergency cases are best served through a full service civilian veterinary hospital.

Wounded Warrior Army Medical Readiness Assistance Program (AMRAP) (Replaced Ombudsman Program)
The Wounded Warrior Ombudsmen serve as a local resource, facilitator, and problem solver for Service Members and their Families. Ombudsmen are located in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and serve as a liaison between MEDCOM, the Soldier and Family member, the MTF commander, and the Warrior in Transition Unit (WTU) commander. The Ombudsman assists WTU and non-WTU Soldiers and their Families with medical related issues. The Wounded Soldier Family Hotline (WSFH) [(800) 984-8523] serves as a 24/7 resource to any beneficiary seeking assistance with a medical issue/concern including wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers, and military Caregivers. Whether you have questions about the Disability Evaluation System process, the VA Caregiver Program, or benefits, the WSFH and Ombudsmen are standing by to assist.
