ACS (Army Community Service)

ACS provides a way for Soldiers, family members, retirees and civilians to let Army leadership know what works and what doesn't and suggestions on how to fix it. ACS is the driving force of improving standards of living for all members of the Army Community globally.

ACS Employment Readiness Program

Provides assistance to active or retired Military and DoD dependents in their search for employment. We focus and identify incoming spouses so we may provide assistance in search of employemnt. Assistance and monthly workshops are offered in the following areas: • Career counseling for those contemplating a career change or further education. • Career development, planning and goal setting. • Job leads and local employer information. • Creating or updating private sector & military resumes. • Creating cover letters. • Federal Employment Application Process. • Preparation for job interviews. • Federal resume assistance and overseas employment information. • Learning the fundamentals of salary negotiation.

ACS Exceptional Family Members Program (EFMP)

Soldiers with Exceptional Family Members are required to register for EFMP and keep enrollment information current. That way, Family needs will be considered during the OCONUS assignments process. If you’re eligible for EFMP services, Family members must be screened and enrolled when they accompany authorized Soldiers on OCONUS assignments. Screenings include a medical records review for all Family members and developmental screening for all children 72 months and younger. (Special education needs are considered only in assignments outside the United States. Assignments within the US and its territories are not based on the educational needs of children.)

ACS Family Advocacy Program (FAP) .

FAP is a protective program charged with the mission of preventing abuse by providing a variety of services to strengthen Army families and enhance their ability to adapt to military life. There are two major components: Treatment and Prevention. Available classes and group sessions for Soldiers and Families include: New Parent Support Program, Parents of Teens, Health Relationship Workshops, Enlisted Spouses Workshops

ACS FAP New Parent Support Program

Having a new baby or young child is a pleasure and a challenge for most parents! The added stresses of military life, including distance from extended family, frequent moves and deployments can create additional concerns and opportunities. Fort Leavenworth’s New Parent Support Program helps build strong families that provide safe and nurturing environments for their young children. The NPSP is a voluntary service available at no cost to active-duty service members and their families who are expecting a child or have at least one child under the age of four. You do not have to be a first-time parent! Learn tools for enhancing your child’s development. New Parent Support offers individualized home visitation services, playgroups, classes covering multiple topics, resource materials and linkages with community information and services. Our goal is to increase the fun of parenting while reducing the stress of being a parent to young children. A healthy, nurturing relationship with your young child is the greatest gift parents provide!

ACS FAP Victim Advocacy Program

Provides clients with information on their rights as victims of violence. Counselors in the office help clients devise a Domestic Violence Safety plan for themselves and their families. ACS Information, Referral & Follow-up (IR&F)

"The Information and Referral and Follow-up program (IR&F) is your main source of information for Fort Leavenworth and the surrounding community. Our trained IR&F staff will provide Soldiers and their Families with any information or assistance they may need. A staff member will assess each individual's situation and make a referral to the appropriate military or civilian agency. In addition, the staff members will follow-up in complex cases to ensure further assistance if needed. IR&F strives to: • Readily provide commanders, Soldiers and Families with information regarding the military and civilian community. • Link Soldiers and Families with available and appropriate resources at the lowest cost and without duplicate effort. • Assist in long-range community planning by identifying duplications, problems and gaps in the service delivery system. • Reduce Soldier and employee time away from the job while they are seeking available accessible services."

ACS Mobilization and Deployment Services

The Mobilization, Deployment & Support Stability Operations program (MD&SSO) was established within Army Community Service to assist with community readiness in instances of deployment and emergency situations. This includes training: Family Readiness Group Leaders (FRGLs), Care Teams, Family Readiness Liaisons (FRLs), Family Readiness Support Assistants (FRSAs), Deployment Cycle Support, and Unit Rear Detachment Commanders.

ACS Relocation Readiness Program

Provides assistant and support throughout the relocation process by offering information. New comers and welcome packets are provided in addition to individual sessions on PCS resources and overseas assignments.

Provides newcomer and welcome information, helps with settling-in services, offers classes and individual sessions on PCS resources and overseas assignments. Assist Soldiers and DA Civilians with obtaining sponsorship. Provides Sponsor Training by request to all units/activities on Fort Leavenworth. Offers a Re-Entry Brief for personnel returning from an overseas assignment that may need assistance with settling back in, such as Reverse Culture Shock, financial assistance, school information and re-integration with extended family. A multi-level English as a Second Language Program is offered weekly and it includes American culture. Walk-in relocation assistance offered daily. Army Newcomer information is also available.

ACS Survivor Outreach Program

Provides a link for Families of fallen Soldiers with resources throughout the military and civilian communities. This program encourages survivors to remain an important part of the Army. Our office has a Financial Counselor and Support Coordinator available to assist surviving family members in their time of need. Army Volunteer Corps (AVC)

Provides assistance in finding meaningful volunteer work that matches individuals with the needs of the organization. There are many agencies on the installation to become involved with and provide resume enhancing experience.

Military & Family Life Counselor Program

Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) assist service members and their Families with circumstances occurring across the military life cycle and aims to enhance operational and Family readiness. They provide support to individuals, couples, Families and groups for a range of issues including, but not limited to: deployment stress, reintegration, relocation adjustment, separation, anger management, conflict resolution, parenting, parent/child communication, relationship/family issues, coping skills, homesickness, and grief and loss. All MFLCs, provide confidential non-medical counseling services face-to-face, on and off of military installations. All MFLCs have a master's degree or doctorate in a mental health- related field, such as social work, psychology, marriage and Family therapy or counseling, and possess a valid unrestricted counseling license or certification from a state, the District of Columbia, a U.S. commonwealth, or a U.S. territory that grants authority to provide

SUDCC (Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care) Provide substance use disorder and comprehensive Behavioral Health care, including assessment, treatment, and aftercare for Active-duty Service Members within an integrated medical and behavioral health model to enhance health and readiness. Service members may be eligible to receive voluntary care. The Army promotes and encourages service members to seek help early. The goal of voluntary care is for service members to receive help for self-identified problems before these problems result in mandatory treatment enrollment, deployment restrictions, command notification, and negative career impact.

Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS)

Our mission is to provide a consistent, safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative development of child and youth. We offer assistance to Families in locating childcare for their specific needs for both traditional and nontraditional childcare. Registration and enrollment of children in all CYSS programs can be completed at the Parent Central Services office.

Fort Leavenworth School Liaison

School Support Services works in conjunction with Child, Youth and School Services and the local school community on and off post. The School Liaison Officer acts as a communication link between the installations and the surrounding school districts and can aid in the transition process for children coming to or leaving the community.

Harrold Youth Center

Harrold Youth Center houses a 9,000 square foot multi-purpose gym, teen lounge, technology lab and homework center,art room, club room, and a game room. The center sponsors age-appropriate activities, youth leadership, and development programs. Center membership is required for participation in activities. Holiday and summer camps are offered for 6th-12th graders, and special teen programs and hours are available. The Center partners with Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H kids organization.

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas is the oldest continuously active military reservation west of the Mississippi River. This historic post is noted for the campus-like setting, open green spaces and hometown character. Fort Leavenworth is home to the Military Corrections Complex, consisting of the United States Disciplinary Barracks, the Department of Defense's only maximum security prison, and the Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility. In addition, the Fort Leavenworth Garrison supports numerous tenant organizations that directly and indirectly relate to the functions of the Combined Arms Center (CAC), including the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the Foreign Military Studies Office. Upper Iowa University (UIU)

UIU offers classes to both military personnel and civilians. Blended with distance learning programs and evening courses, several Master's Program, 19 majors and numerous certificate program are available. In addition to veterans and service men and women, UIU-Fort Leavenworth also welcomes civilians, including Department of Defense (DoD) employees, federal contractors and military dependents (spouses and children) to our classes.

Army Wellness Center Programs

The AFWC promotes enhanced and sustained healthy lifestyles to improve the overall wellbeing of the community with state-of-the-art equipment and programs to aid in the process. Available programs include weight management through metabolic testing, healthy nutrition, fitness assessments, stress management, and unit level health briefings.

Munson Army Health Center

Munson Army Health Center supports Fort Leavenworth and the Combined Arms Center through readiness, wellness and healthcare for service members, retirees, and their families. Open to Active-Duty military and TRICARE beneficiaries. Munson is Closed on all Federal Holidays and Monthly Training Days (usually the second Wednesday of the Month from 12 p.m. through the rest of the day). This includes our Pharmacy. Munson does not have an emergency room. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for life threating care. Munson Pharmacy

The pharmacy lobby is open and available for patients to use, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All new and renewal prescriptions require activation before pickup. This includes prescriptions sent electronically by network providers. Use the Q-Anywhere service to activate NEW/renewed prescriptions and receive a text message when your prescription is ready for pick up at window #7. Prescription REFILLS can be initiated through the MHS Genesis Patient Portal and by calling the phone number listed on your prescription bottle. You can choose to have your refills pickup up at the pharmacy lobby or the ScriptCenter Kiosk (located in the east entrance of the facility, during regular clinic business hours). Please allow 2-business days for refill processing. Visit our lobby to request OTC medications for self-care. The full list of available medications is located on our website. The Auto Craft Center is a do-it-yourself mechanic facility. It includes seven bays, car lifts, and a wide range of tools for use. Service techs are on hand to assist and provide directions. You can purchase supplies and dispose of your oil and waste. Auto detailing services are offered as well, with competitive rates! Minimal fees, based on rental fees and supplies.

Flying Lessons

One of only two flying activities left on Army installations, the Fort Leavenworth Army Flying Activity offers an unique opportunity to obtain a fixed wing private pilot's license.

Fort Leavenworth Dog Parks

Fort Leavenworth Dog Park: Open from dawn to dusk. Separate fenced-in areas allow small and large dogs to run, play and navigate the obstacle course.

Fort Leavenworth Hunt Club

The Hunt Club provides facilities and events for Families that enjoy equestrian sports. The club is active throughout the year with horse shows, riding lessons, horse and hound training and fox hunts, which are conducted September-April.

Gruber Fitness Center

Gruber fitness center facility features cardio equipment, including a variety of equipment, in addition to an area designated to free weights or plate loaded machines. basketball and racquetball courts, combative and group exercise rooms, rock climbing and a co-ed sauna. Fitness classes, personal training and massage therapy are available for an additional fee.

Harney Sports Complex

Harney Complex includes a 25-yard indoor pool, racquetball courts, saunas, weight room and cardio equipment. The west gym has been converted into a gymnastics facility for youth and the east gym can be reserved for private use when available. Fitness classes, CrossFit, Functional Fitness and Martial Arts are also available for additional fees.

Family Morale Welfare and Recreation: FMWR offers social, fitness, recreational, educational and other programs and activities that enhance community life, foster soldier and unit readiness, promote mental and physical fitness and provide enrichment activities for Fort Leavenworth's community.

Strike Zone Bowling Alley

Located just behind the PX, the 16-lane facility includes a W2 Pro Shop and snack bar. Bowling leagues, tournaments, and special events are available for all ages and skill level. A variety of birthday and group party packages, Rock-n-Glow "Cosmic" bowling, 50 cent night, Lunch and Bowl and the Family Day Out are some of the most popular specials.

Trails West Golf Course

Unique, affordable and open to the public, the course features 190 acres of open meadows, tree lined zoysia fairways and bent grass greens. Annual Drinking Water Quality Report

The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is an annual drinking water quality report prepared by an organization that provides drinking water through a community water system. The US EPA requires that water purveyors for community water systems provide a CCR to their customers by July 1st every year. Information contained in the CCR includes the source of drinking water, applicable water quality requirements, and water system monitoring results for the previous year.

Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs

The first step towards obtaining veterans benefits is to understand what benefits are available to you and your family. Veterans service representatives (VSRs) work with you to identify the benefits that you may be eligible for and assist you in filing federal claims. VSRs are accredited by the federal VA, and trained and certified annually by the state. They are available throughout Kansas to assist you at no cost.

Waggin' Tales Dog Par;: The Leavenworth Off-Lease Dog Park is a free public park built specifically for pet owners and their dogs for recreation, socialization and exercise. Located on the VA Hospital grounds, the 6 acre park is perfect for both small and large dogs.

Air Quality Index

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a tool to communicate the status of local air quality to the public—the Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI is derived from real-time air pollution measurements taken at monitoring stations throughout the United States. The AQI has three components: a color, a score and a health message recommending protective action based on the level of air pollution.

Combined Arms Research Library (CARL)

The CARL is a comprehensive military research center supporting the Army Command and General Staff College. It also serves as the post library for the community.

Housing Environmental Health Response Registry

The Housing Environmental Health Response Registry is a resource for residents to report housing-related health information and concerns. Residents will be invited to enroll in the registry and initiate an exchange with public health professionals. Registry participants will receive information on in-home environmental health, assistance in seeking medical care, and an opportunity to share concerns with Army leadership.

Infectious Disease Epidemiologist

State Health Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program. The contact information provided is for the chief infectious disease epidemiologist in that program. Within these programs, each state conducts disease surveillance, collects information on reportable diseases from all healthcare providers and hospitals, and from local and regional health departments. Each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program investigates disease outbreaks, analyzes and distributes information on the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases. States provide considerable disease and state-specific information on their state health agency’s website and search engine.

Kansas Agricultural Library

State Health Department Laboratory conducts laboratory testing for most all analysis requirements for public health surveillance. This may include monitoring and detection testing for environmental health, food safety, infectious diseases, newborn screening, public health preparedness, radiation safety, and many other tests. All state public health laboratories are part of the National Laboratory Network, and respond to novel strains of disease, natural disasters, chemical spills, foodborne outbreaks, and other public health emergencies.

Kansas Department of Health and Environment

State Environmental Health Laboratory supports statewide environmental health protection monitoring by performing analyses for chemical, microbiological, and radiological testing, biomonitoring of water, wastewater, air, soil, hazardous wastes, and other environmental concerns. Many state environmental health laboratories are associated with that state’s public health laboratory.

Military Caregiver Virtual Forum

Military caregivers may join their peers virtually in a Department of Defense online forum every month to discuss topics that they choose and network with others who are experiencing similar challenges. Caregivers learn skills to overcome challenges and share resources.

National Resource Directory

The National Resource Directory is one of the largest online collections of government and non-government resources specifically designed for Veterans, service members, their families and caregivers. With a unique collection of more than 16,000 organized and vetted resources, the directory provides information covering a variety of topics, including benefits and compensation, education, homeless assistance, housing and other services.

This is a conversational English and Cultural Learning Class held once a week. Tutors assist in the cultural transition of students, and its goals are to teach foreign individuals how to read, write, speak and understand English and the American culture.
