Child Care Aware

Child Care Aware offers a subsidy program for Army families who cannot find child care on post. There are locations across VA, MD and DC. Non-Army families can also use the program, however, subsidies vary.

The Child Development Centers (CDC's) offer full day and hourly child care programs for ages 6 weeks through 5 years old with Strong Beginnings Pre-Kindergarten program for rising kindergarten children. We have 4 centers located throughout the installation and one at Rivanna Station in Charlottesville with registration through our Parent Central Services office.

CPAC Human Resources

The Civilian Personnel Advisory Center services more than 2,000 Department of Army appropriated and non appropriated fund employees. The center has program responsibilities for recruitment, priority placement program, position management and classification, labor and management employee relations, personnel systems management ,and worker's compensation.

CPAC NAF Human Resources

The Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) office at Fort Belvoir offers services for all personnel. NAF activities provide services to military, their families and civilian patrons through different Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs. The NAF Human Resources Office offers jobs for NAF employment in child development, food and beverage management, bowling, marketing, recreation, pools, as well as clerical and administrative jobs. NAF employment opportunities are advertised on www.USAJobs.gov and are open to eligible and qualified US Citizens and Non-U.S. Citizens. In addition, service members can be employed after military duty hours in flexible or regular part time positions (evenings and weekends) with an approval from their commanding officer. The Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) HR office at Fort Belvoir offers strategic advisory services to their customers in the areas of recruitment, placement, position management, NAF Benefits, labor/management and employee relations services.

Drug Disposal

Most unused and unneeded pharmaceuticals can be disposed in special drop boxes located at the pharmacy. This removes potentially harmful medications from the home and provides environmentally safe disposal. Contact the Pharmacy for any special concerns.

Fort Belvoir Veterinary Center

The Fort Belvoir Veterinary Center is responsible for providing comprehensive veterinary clinical and surgical care for several hundred Government-Owned Animals and Military Working Dogs in the National Capital Region. We also provide veterinary services for pets of active duty, reserve and retired military personnel as well as their dependents. Although our Working Dog readiness mission comes first, we try our best to provide as much veterinary clinical capabilities to the eligible community as possible. We offer a wide variety of veterinary services for Privately Owned Animals from our caring and knowledgeable staff. These include: on-post pet registration, vaccinations, heartworm & fecal tests, micro-chipping, flea & tick preventatives, and veterinary requirements for most PCS stations, preventive medicine & minor sick-call appointments. Outpatient anesthetic & surgical procedures are available on a space and personnel available basis only. We apologize that we cannot accept Walk-In appointments. Unfortunately, we do not see Privately Owned Animal Emergencies. Please call our Veterinary Center to see about appointment availability. We are only able to schedule out 1-2 weeks at a time in order to decrease the number of No-Show appointments. We apologize for this inconvenience. If you are not able to reach us, and you have an emergency, please call your local civilian veterinarian immediately.

Wounded Warrior Ombudsmen- Fort Belvoir

The Wounded Warrior Ombudsmen serve as a local resource, facilitator, and problem solver for Service Members and their Families. Ombudsmen are located in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and serve as a liaison between MEDCOM, the Soldier and Family member, the MTF commander, and the Warrior in Transition Unit (WTU) commander. The Ombudsman assists WTU and non-WTU Soldiers and their Families with medical related issues. Traffic Accident Investigation Section

If you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, you are required by Law to notify the local Police agency regardless of the severity of damage. If you were operating a military vehicle(tactical or non-tactical) when the accident occurred you are also required to notify the Police Desk, and obtain the information needed to complete a SF 91 (Motor Vehicle Accident Report)

Weapons Registration

All personnel that reside on Fort Belvoir are required under Army Regulation 190-11 and JBM-HH Regulation 190-3 to register their privately owned weapons on the installation within 72 hours of arrival on post. Personnel that reside off post that intend to transport weapons on the installation will also register them. All personnel residing in the barracks will register and store privately owned weapons in their unit arms rooms

Prepare to attend a Transition Assistance Program (TAP), or one of SFL-TAP's other workshops. You must be a registered SFL-TAP client to participate in this program.

24 lane bowling facility with food operation. Individual, leagues and group offering. Food operation also caters special events in additional to normal food operation.

Child Care

The Family Child Care program offers a safe environment, in a home setting that supports children through activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children. The flexibility of using Family Child Care is an asset in meeting the irregular work schedules of military members as our homes offer full-day, hourly care, evening and weekend schedules and can accommodate care for children with special needs. Fort Belvoir Officers Club

The Fort Belvoir Officers Club offers beautiful views of the Potomac from 3 large ballrooms and 4 smaller rooms. Catering services for events such as weddings, retirements, conferences, etc. A daily lunch is also offered.

School Aged Center

Our SAC program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation (COA) and offers a before and after school program with a variety of fun options. We also offer Strong Beginnings part day preschool and pre-kindergarten programs which provides stimulating Kindergarten readiness. The part day programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our program has a state of the art computer lab, a wonderful library/homework area, awesome activity areas and a large open playground. SAC also offers full day care on school out days as well as winter, spring and summer camps.

School Support Services

Our School Support services department has two school liaison Officers working with military connected families on school related matters in Fairfax and Prince William Counties, along with being able to connect families living in other counties with other National Capital Region School Liaison Officers. School Liaisons are the primary point of contact for school related matters; encourage families to become familiar with the Federal Legislation called the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children which is designed to ease the transition of students moving to public schools across state lines. Information on this and free tutoring and school registration is available at the CYSS table.

SKIES (Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills)

SKIES Unlimited offers instructional classes for children and youth. Classes allow children and youth to acquire new skills and still have fun at affordable rates!

Youth Center

Our Youth Center is a huge facility offering a variety of activities for youth with opportunities in life skills; citizenship and leadership; sports and fitness; leisure, recreation and arts; and academic support. A free Middle School and Teen Program is available after school Monday through Friday and Noon to 2100 Saturday. Activities include power hour, community service activities, state of the art computer lab and gaming room, arts and crafts, pick-up and organized sports activities, and special interest activities that change each week. A Middle School/Teen Summer Camp is available for students having completed the 6th grade and above. Weekly camp fees are based on total family income.

Youth Sports and Fitness

Youth Sports and Fitness provides a quality and structured program for youth. The various programs teach sports fundamentals, good sportsmanship, character, discipline, competitiveness, and teamwork in a positive, fun and safe environment. Participants will have an equal opportunity to learn and compete while knowledgeable volunteer coaches promote the philosophies and principles of fair play. The Housing Services Office is a branch of The Fort Belvoir Residential Communities Liaison Office. The overall goal of the Housing Services Office is to implement and maintain a high quality worldwide resource for relocation services that is innovative, comprehensive and the first choice of information and support when Soldiers and families relocate. These services include but are not limited to; home buying and selling support, rental property listings, temporary housing listings, off-post quality housing inspections, in and out-processing, permissive temporary duty (PTDY) stamp, lease review, landlord and tenant mediation, and advocacy.

The Inspector General assesses and reports to the Commanding General on matters affecting the performance of the mission and state of the command to include efficiency, discipline, morale, esprit de corps, and readiness. IGs operate within an environment consisting of commanders, Soldiers, Family members, Civilians, Retirees, and other civilians needing assistance with an Army matter and the IG system. The IG serves commanders and their Soldiers through the IG functions of teaching and training, inspections, investigations, and assistance.

Joint Personal Property Shipping Office, Mid Atlantic (JPPSOMA)

JPPSO-MA provides traffic management services related to personal property/household goods (HHGs) shipments initiated by service members or DoD civilians through an online system called the Defense Personal Property System (DPS). Customers initiate their shipment via DPS, and complete required individual counseling and entitlements queries through their supporting installation’s Personal Property Processing Office (PPPO)/Counseling Office. On the left side of this web page, you will find a link (“PPPO”) to a list of the PPPOs/Counseling Offices servicing the AOR. If you need assistance in initiating a personal property action or have entitlement questions, please contact the PPPO/Counseling Office closest to you and speak with a counselor.

Air Quality Index

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a tool to communicate the status of local air quality to the public—the Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI is derived from real-time air pollution measurements taken at monitoring stations throughout the United States. The AQI has three components: a color, a score and a health message recommending protective action based on the level of air pollution.

Deputy State Epidemiologist

State Health Department Deputy State Epidemiologist assists the state epidemiologist in providing scientific and epidemiological expertise. While not all states have a deputy state epidemiologist, those that do have an additional subject matter expert resource for public health and epidemiology.

Housing Environmental Health Response Registry

The Housing Environmental Health Response Registry is a resource for residents to report housing-related health information and concerns. Residents will be invited to enroll in the registry and initiate an exchange with public health professionals. Registry participants will receive information on in-home environmental health, assistance in seeking medical care, and an opportunity to share concerns with Army leadership.

Infectious Disease Epidemiologist

State Health Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program. The contact information provided is for the chief infectious disease epidemiologist in that program. Within these programs, each state conducts disease surveillance, collects information on reportable diseases from all healthcare providers and hospitals, and from local and regional health departments. Each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program investigates disease outbreaks, analyzes and distributes information on the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases. States provide considerable disease and state-specific information on their state health agency’s website and search engine.

Military Caregiver Virtual Forum

Military caregivers may join their peers virtually in a Department of Defense online forum every month to discuss topics that they choose and network with others who are experiencing similar challenges. Caregivers learn skills to overcome challenges and share resources.

National Resource Directory

The National Resource Directory is one of the largest online collections of government and non-government resources specifically designed for Veterans, service members, their families and caregivers. With a unique collection of more than 16,000 organized and vetted resources, the directory provides information covering a variety of topics, including benefits and compensation, education, homeless assistance, housing and other services.

State Epidemiologist

State Health Department Lead State Epidemiologist is an appointed primary state epidemiologist, responsible for the identification and response for all health threats that occur within that state. This individual is selected by each state’s primary health official (usually the state health department director), or the state board of health. A state epidemiologist is usually responsible for each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program, often along with many other state health agency programs involved in disease detection and prevention.

State Public Health Laboratory

State Health Department Laboratory conducts laboratory testing for most all analysis requirements for public health surveillance. This may include monitoring and detection testing for environmental health, food safety, infectious diseases, newborn screening, public health preparedness, radiation safety, and many other tests. State public health laboratories are part of the National Laboratory Network, and respond to novel strains of disease, natural disasters, chemical spills, foodborne outbreaks, and other public health emergencies.

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital: Nutrition Clinic

The Nutrition Clinic offers both classes and one-on-one consultations. Class topics include diabetes, gestational diabetes, and heart healthy eating. We also teach Fit For Performance, an Active Duty Weight Control program for active duty service members interested in learning about weight loss and weight maintenance that meet the nutrition education requirements of AR 600-9. One-on-one consultations last between 30 and 60 minutes and covers a variety of topics. Frequent reasons for visits include, but are not limited to: follow-up after a class, athletic performance, vegetarianism, childhood failure to thrive, weight management, food allergies or intolerances, cancer, heart disease and more.
