Approval of an Army Emergency Relief (AER) loan is based on the need created by an emergency beyond the control of the Soldier. Although each loan application is considered on its own merit, the AER office should be the last aid station when all other agencies have been unable to assist (Red Cross, Finance, other Army Community Service programs, etc.). AER will consider cases in the following areas: non-receipt of pay, loss of funds, medical, dental and hospital expenses, funeral expenses, required travel expenses, food, rent, utilities and essential privately owned vehicle repairs.

Cove House Emergency Homeless Shelter
Cove House maintains housing facilities that are used to provide emergency shelter for those in need. We have a men’s home, a women’s home, and a family home. As a general rule, individuals and families may stay in the facilities for a two week period. During that period, they are expected to make a strong effort to get their own independent housing and employment (if needed). While at the facility, individuals may take advantage of the housing accommodations, our laundry appliances, and our food supplies. We want the residents of Cove House to find a safe and secure environment as they seek to regain their independence and self sufficiency. 1. Applicants must be willing to comply with all of the shelter’s rules and policies. 2. Applicants for residency must provide two forms of identification (one being a Texas issued picture ID, such as a TX Driver’s License or TX ID Card).
