Alaska Veterans Telehealth and Biofeedback Services
Telecounseling services for Alaska's rural veterans in the privacy of their own homes. Confidential, on-line counseling to help with past trauma and learn new coping strategies with ALL COSTS COVERED by Rural Veterans Health Access Program. Rural Veterans in Alaska can participate in one or both services below: •Brief 6-8 week biofeedback-assisted counseling to develop skills to manage pain, anxiety, depression, difficulty sleeping related to PTSD and other emotional trauma and keep the FREE BIOFEEDBACK UNIT. LEARN MORE •Or talk to a caring, confidential counselor and learn skills to make daily life easier to manage. Ongoing counseling services are designed to help individuals identify, adapt and effectively cope with life stresses. The ongoing counseling will vary in length of time according to your needs. We provide counseling by using evidenced based practices; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Biofeedback, EMDR and other trauma focused therapy.
American Red Cross (ARC)

Annual Drinking Water Quality Report
The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is an annual drinking water quality report prepared by an organization that provides drinking water through a community water system. The US EPA requires that water purveyors for community water systems provide a CCR to their customers by July 1st every year. Information contained in the CCR includes the source of drinking water, applicable water quality requirements, and water system monitoring results for the previous year.
Armed Service YMCA
Provides programs and services, and sponsors courtesy lounges at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Fairbanks International Airport. Low-cost transportation for all military personnel is provided through a shuttle van service. Operates the Thrift Store on Fort Wainwright at 102nd and Chestnut Street in the North Post area.

Army Education Center
Continuing education services. Education counseling can help focus goals into plans, identify career interests and point out academic weaknesses. Counselors can provide information on VA education benefits and other financial aid and scholarship programs, how colleges work, how to earn a degree and other general education advice. They can also explain how to apply for college credit for experiential learning from military training
Army Emergency Relief (AER)
Provides emergency financial assistance to Soldiers and their Families. Food, Rent Utilities, Emergency transportation and vehicle repair, funeral expenses, medical/dental expenses, personal needs when pay is delayed or stolen, other emergency financial needs.
Army Family Action Plan
AFAP is a grassroots process that gives the community an opportunity to voice concerns and issues that affect quality of life in Fort Wainwright and in the whole Army.
Army Family Team Building
A Family training and readiness program which provides participants with an undersanding of Army culture and the skills and resources needed to become self-reliant, self-sufficient members of the military community. Army Public Health Nursing
Army Public Health Nursing is the premier globally agile public heath force that protects, sustains, and enhances Total Force readiness through evidence-based PH services. Services Provided: HIV/STI Awareness Education: training for units and community groups about local statistics, prevention strategies and personal responsibility (can be tailored for adolescent audience); Immunization Classes: overview of immunization system, policy, clinical practice, adverse events and available resources; Health Awareness Information: discuss different topics related to disease prevention and control, lifestyle change, health promotion and other topics in accordance with DA PAM 40-11 and AR 600-63
Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP)
The Army Substance Abuse Prevention program provides a healthy installation environment, free of substance abuse and substance abuse related problems for Soldiers, Civilians, retirees and their Family Members. Our mission is to identify, treat, and rehabilitate substance abusers at USAG Alaska; to strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army's total workforce; and to enhance the combat readiness of its Soldiers. We are committed to understanding our supported units and their missions, anticipating what is needed to sustain mission readiness, and proudly serving as a valued member of the Commander’s battle staff.

Taking care of your vehicle can be a challenge with the extreme Alaskan weather. Let the knowledgeable staff at the Automotive Skills Center make things easy for you by assisting you in making repairs for you at prices lower than you will receive off post. Tow service available 24 hours.
BACH Physical Therapy Department
Physical therapy is a branch of rehabilitative health that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities. The Physical Therapy Department at Bassett Army Community Hospital also provides the following services: Injury Reserve Physical Training (IRPT) Trainer Course: certifies IRPT instructors, provides information to establish reconditioning programs in accordance with FM 7-22 and Building the Soldiers Athlete; Aquatics PT: learn to lead PT in the pool and provide alternate low impact exercises for the injured population; Injury Prevention: instructs on the basic principles of musculaskeletal injury prevention and how to optimize performance; Mobility, Agility and Recovery: provides instruction on dynamic warm ups, agility and recovery drills; ACFT Introduction: overview of standards and alternate exercises to be successful on the ACFT
Bassett Army Community Hospital (BACH)
Bassett Army Community Hospital at Fort Wainwright is the primary medical treatment facility for Soldiers, family members and retirees and their families. A number of civilian hospitals and civilian specialists augment the military facilities to provide complete medical care for personnel in Alaska. Medical Departments include: Behavioral Health, Dental Clinic, Emergency Room, EFMP, EENT (Eye, Ears, Nose, and Throat), Immunizations, Internal Medicine, OB-GYN, Ortho/Podiatry, Pediatrics, Surgery, Laboratory, Occupational Health, Patient Advocate, Pharmacy Refills, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Social Work Services, TRICARE, VA Clinic
Behavioral Health Clinic
Behavioral health issues do not discriminate: they can occur in anyone’s life. Whether you are active duty, family member or other beneficiary, behavioral health care at Bassett Army Community Hospital is delivered in a compassionate manner designed to aid in recovery. Individual or group counseling is designed to help patients get through life’s behavioral challenges. The Behavioral Health Clinic is staffed by military and civilian providers who provide outpatient assessment, diagnosis and treatment for behavioral health and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation to active duty Soldiers and their Family Members. Soldiers and Family Members may self-refer for evaluation.
Better Opportunities for Single Service Members (BOSS)
The BOSS program represents the voice of the single Service member. If you're a single Service member, BOSS members advocate for you by advancing quality of life issues on the installation, and in the barracks, to senior leaders on post and throughout the Army. "Let Your Voice Be Heard"
Birch Hill Ski and Snowboard Area
Keep the whole family busy and physically active during the long Alaskan winter. Birch Hill Ski and Snowboard Area offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing for all ages and abilities. With snow-making capabilities, Birch Hill is the first hill in the interior to open and boasts the only night-skiing venue in the Fairbanks area. Careline Crisis Helpline

The Fort Wainwright Chaplain Family Life Center (CFLC) is staffed by an intentional team of care givers who are trained in both clinical and therapeutic approaches in counseling. Our goal is to provide the best possible pastoral care to the best Service and Family Members in the Army — meaning You! Chena Bend Clubhouse
Chena Bend Golf Course, the "Farthest North Military Course", is a 6,476 yard, par-72, 18-hole course. It is nestled between the east end of the Fort Wainwright airfield and the Chena River, with several holes running along the river. Golf Simulators and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing (during winter season).
Child Development Center (CDC)
CDC I Bldg. 4024 and II Bldg. 4176 are fully accredited programs through the National Association for the Education of Young Children, certified by the Department of Defense and follow the USDA food program nutritional guidelines

Criminal Investigation Division (CID)
Conduct sensitive/serious investigations, Investigate serious crime ,Collect, analyze and disseminate criminal intelligence, Conduct protective service operations, Provide forensic laboratory support, Maintain Army criminal records
Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA)
Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) commissaries in Alaska stock all the produce, fresh meat, dairy products and other food items you are used to with the express purpose of helping improve your quality of life and stretch your paycheck. A complete deli and bakery along with a “Grab ’n Go” section are customer favorites. The deli department makes sandwiches to order, as well as fresh sushi daily for healthy alternatives. Special orders are welcome.
Dental Clinic (DENTAC)
Provide customer-focused, world-class dental care to USARAK units and eligible beneficiaries ensuring world-wide deployment through trained and ready professionals who are accountable to the U.S. Army and the American people.
Deputy State Epidemiologist
State Health Department Deputy State Epidemiologist. The deputy state epidemiologist assists the state epidemiologist in providing scientific and epidemiological expertise. While not all states have a deputy state epidemiologist, those that do have an additional subject matter expert resource for public health and epidemiology.
Directorate of Emergency Services (DES)
The Directorate of Emergency Services military police at Fort Wainwright provide 24-hour law enforcement to the community with information about road conditions, basic requirements for licensing, directions, referral to on- and off-post agencies, coordination with civilian law enforcement agencies, and general information pertaining to both military and state of Alaska laws and regulations. The organization comprises active-duty military police (MPs) as well as Department of the Army civilian police and Department of the Army security guards at the installation’s gates
Emergency Food Assistance
Short-term assistance is provided on coordination with the Personal Financial Counselor, Army Emergency Relief Officer, the Chaplain Corps, and ASYMCA Food Pantry.
Employment Readiness Program (ERP)
Provides employment assistance to active duty, reserve component, transitioning, and retired Soldiers, Family Members, and DOD Civilian employees in acquiring new skills, networks, and resources that will allow them to participate in the work force and develop career/work plan.
Equal Employment Opportunity Office (EEO)
A workplace providing full and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) A workplace providing full and fair employment opportunities for the federal government’s civilian workforce became law with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Executive Order 11478, followed by the passage of laws, statutes and amendments, made it unlawful to discriminate in making decisions or treating people differently based on race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, disability or reprisal. In 2008, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) was enacted, ensuring that individuals are not discouraged from availing themselves of genetic testing and genetic services for fear of losing their health benefits or that their employers will take adverse employment actions against them based on their genetic information. U.S. Army Garrison Alaska and tenant units use many different tools to provide full and fair employment opportunities to their military and civilian workforces
Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)
A Mandatory enrollment program that works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated community support, housing, educational, medical, personnel, and respite care services to Families with special needs. All family members must be screened for enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program before being granted command sponsorship in Alaska. Availability of specialized medical care is limited in Alaska, so some medical problems cannot be supported here. For information about screening or the medical aspects of EFMP, contact the EFMP medical chief at BACH.
Fairbanks Regional Public Health Center
We offer a variety of public health nursing services outside of the health center in the community setting. Examples include our monthly immunization clinic at the North Pole Fire Department, Breastfeeding Class, weekly New Parents Clinic in cooperation with Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, and postpartum follow up for clients. We also coordinate a Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at our health center twice a year in collaboration with a variety of community health partners.
Fairbanks Rescue Mission
A Christian-based organization. Serves homeless men, women, and children from the entire Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) community and the outlying rural areas. Emergency services includes three hot meals, a bed each night, clothing, and a safe environment for a period not to exceed 180 days from the initial check-in date. Each individual who spends more than 30 days at the Mission will be required to meet with the case manager to establish a plan that moves them toward independence and self-sufficiency. This approach keeps the client's focus on moving out of the shelter, overcoming the circumstances, and gives clients tools and information about our community
Fairbanks VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)
The clinic is located within Bassett Army Community Hospital on Ft. Wainwright as part of a VA/DoD interagency sharing agreement. The CBOC offers a health care program to veterans which includes health promotion, primary care, mental health care, women’s health care, orthopedics, audiology and case management. Laboratory and X-Ray are provided via services within Bassett Army Community Hospital.
Fairbanks Wellness Coalition
A coalition of diverse and caring Alaskans who represent or are a part of various coalitions, organizations and/or sectors in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Our vision is a community where all generations experience wellness in mind, body and spirit. We foster wellness through primary prevention and advocacy. The Coalition's current focus is suicide prevention and opiod prevention.
Fairbanks Youth Advocates, The Door
A youth shelter that can also provide services through connections with various community agencies and programs.
Family Advocacy Program (FAP)
The Army FAP is committed to preventing domestic and child abuse and neglect by providing a variety of services to strengthen Army families and enhance resiliency. The FAP includes prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and treatment in support of Soldiers and families. FAP provides military Families with prevention services and educational programs, including: Emergency Placement, Respite Care, Victim Advocacy, FAP Education and Prevention, New Parent Support Office, Home Visits and Education, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, Support Groups and Enrichment Classes, and Alternative services.
Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR)
Family and MWR is a network of support and leisure services designed to serve the needs, interests and responsibilities of each individual in the Army community, as well as enhance the quality of their lives. From family, child and youth programs to recreation, sports, entertainment, travel and leisure activities -- Family and MWR employees worldwide strive to deliver the highest quality programs and services at each installation. Family and MWR helps ensure Army readiness by caring for the people who serve and stand ready to defend the nation.
Financial Readiness Program (FRP)
Provides education, training, and counseling in personal financial readiness. Topics include: wealth building, financial life skills training, retirement planning, indebtedness, consumer advocacy and protection, money management, credit, financial planning, insurance, identify theft, and consumer issues. Other services offered are mandatory personal financial readiness training for first-term Soldiers, the Thrift Savings Plan, Blended Retirement System Planning, Smooth Move (PCS), and financial readiness for deployed Soldiers and their Families. Personal Financial Counselors are nationally accredited and available for individual, couple, and family sessions. Unit training are available upon request.
Fischer Skeet Range
Fischer Skeet and Trap Range is set up for both experienced and novice shooters. The range is equipped with lights for winter shooting, helping you keep your skills sharpened year round. It features three skeet ranges, one trap range and one 5-stand.
Housing Environmental Health Response Registry (HEHRR)
The Housing Environmental Health Response Registry is a resource for residents (ALL DoD, including AF and Navy) to report current and/or past housing-related health information and concerns. Registry participants will receive information on in-home environmental health, assistance in seeking medical care, and an opportunity to share concerns with Army leadership. Those with concerns related to off-post housing may enroll in the registry, but will also need to contact the local public heath department (Fairbanks Regional Public Health Center) for additional assistance. Infectious Disease Epidemiologist
State Health Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program Each state health department has an infectious disease epidemiology program. The contact information provided is for the chief infectious disease epidemiologist in that program. Within these programs, each state conducts disease surveillance, collects information on reportable diseases from all healthcare providers and hospitals, and from local and regional health departments. Each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program investigates disease outbreaks, analyzes and distributes information on the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases. Many states provide considerable disease and state-specific information on their state health agency’s website and search engine.
Inspector General (IG)
The USARAK Inspector General inquires into and provides the Commanding General a continuous assessment of USARAK’s readiness, discipline, efficiency, economy, morale, training, and operational effectiveness. Provide assistance, investigations, inspections, and teaching/training support to Soldiers, commanders, civilians, and family members.
Installation Safety Office
The Installation Safety Office provides direct safety guidance and safety program management to the U.S. Army Garrison Alaska organizations and provides base operational support to the U.S. Army in Alaska. Additionally, the Installation Safety Office provides safety awareness such as seasonal safety for the Civilians, Soldiers and their Families as well as Motorcycle safety training for Soldiers.
Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living
Provides programs to address domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, suicide intervention, and crisis services for victims of other violent crimes. Includes emergency shelter to survivors (and their children) who are in need of safe housing.
Last Frontier Community Activity Center (LFCAC)
The Last Frontier Community Activity Center (LFCAC) has a little bit of something for everyone.  Many family-friendly events take place throughout the year at the LFCAC, such as Bouncy Hut Nights, Newcomers Briefings, FRG Meetings and playgroups
Lead Information for Military Families
Information regarding who is at risk for lead exposure, the health risks associated with lead exposure, what to do if you have been exposed to lead, how to protect your family from lead exposure and information for occupants of military housing.
Library
Our Vision is to provide the community of Fort Wainwright access to high quality materials and programs to support the mission and lifelong learning goals of the soldiers, civilians, and family members we serve. Medication Disposal
Most unused and unneeded pharmaceuticals can be disposed in special drop boxes located at the pharmacy. This removes potentially harmful medications from the home and provides environmentally safe disposal. Contact the Pharmacy for any special concerns.
Melaven Fitness Center
Melaven Fitness Center is home fitness classes, personal training and a swim center complete with eight lanes and diving boards.  The pool, monitored by lifeguards, is available for lap swim, open swim and lessons. 
Military and Family Life Counseling Program (MFLC)
Provides non-medical short-term, situational problem solving counseling to Service Members and their families. Provides psycho-education to help Service Members and their families understand the impact of stress, deployments, family reunions following deployments and the stresses of military life.
Military Caregiver Resource Directory
Designed to help empower military caregivers with information about national-level resources and programs specifically for them. Topics include: helplines, advocacy and benefit information, career transitions and employment, military caregiver support, children’s needs, education and training, financial support, rest and relaxation, and others.
Military Caregiver Virtual Forum
Military caregivers may join their peers virtually in a Department of Defense online forum every month to discuss topics that they choose and network with others who are experiencing similar challenges. Caregivers learn skills to overcome challenges and share resources.
Military Housing
Depending on the number of PCS rotations and size of families departing, the wait for a home can range from two months to a year at Fort Wainwright and from no wait to a year at Fort Greely. Typically, more than a third of the families assigned to Fort Wainwright live off post in the Fairbanks North Star Borough for part of their tour of duty. All military members must process through the Housing Services Office (HSO) prior to entering into any rental or sales agreement. Fort Wainwright’s HSO is in the Welcome Center, Building 3401, Santiago Road.

Military Spouse Employment Partnership Program (MSEP)
A self-sustaining and expanding partnership between the U.S. Army and corporate America. The partnership provides Army spouses the opportunity to attain financial security and achieve employment and career goals through mobility and enhanced employment options. MSEP is a core component of the Employment Readiness Program to enhance and develop employment opportunities for spouses.
Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program (MOBDEP)
The Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program provides active duty, reserve units and guard units with pre and post deployment and mobilization briefings, Family Readiness Group assistance and training, information and referral services, resource materials, and Operation R.E.A.D.Y. (Resources for Education About Deployment and You) training. Also includes: Family Assistance Center (FAC), Family Readiness Group (FRG)
Mold & Indoor Air Quality
This page contains information, guidance and tools on indoor air quality (IAQ) and mold. IAQ refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures and is not limited to mold. Army Installation Industrial Hygienists typically conduct IAQ Surveys at the request of their clients. Mold growth issues are often a part of an IAQ issue, and addressed at the same time. IAQ and mold growth can occur in any indoor space, and often are caused by a number of issues including but not limited to heating, ventilating and air conditioning issues, water intrusion (flooding, roof leaks, and plumbing issues), improper maintenance, and exposure to elements.
Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT)
The MIAT (formerly SNAP) is a special needs accommodation process which identifies children requiring special medical or educational supports or any other additional accommodations while they participate in any Child, Youth or School Services (CYSS) on the installation. The MIAT team which consists of EFMP staff, CYSS staff, Army Public Health Nurse and Parents will meet and determine what supports are needed and if those needs can be met while in care.
National Resource Directory
The National Resource Directory is one of the largest online collections of government and non-government resources specifically designed for Veterans, service members, their families and caregivers. With a unique collection of more than 16,000 organized and vetted resources, the directory provides information covering a variety of topics, including benefits and compensation, education, homeless assistance, housing and other services.
Newcomers Orientation
This orientation provides a basic introduction to the Fort Wainwright Community, its agencies and services and focuses on cultural adaption. As a part of the Newcomers Orientation, the Information Fair is a great way for incoming Soldiers, Family Members, and DoD Civilians to learn what Fort Wainwright and the surrounding communities have to offer. Representatives from many local businesses, agencies, and organizations are present to help you familiarize yourself to your new home.
Northern Lights/Southern Lights Chapel
The Fort Wainwright Religious Support Office (RSO) offers four worship services on post provided by Service Members and their Families and designed for Service Members and their Families. Southern Lights Chapel: Roman Catholic Mass at 0900 & Anglican Holy Communion at 1100 ; Northern Lights Chapel: General Protestant Worship at 1100 & Spanish-language Protestant Worship at 1300.
Nugget Lanes Bowling Center
Our 32 lane, smoke free, family-friendly facility offers programs and activities for all ages. Whether you’re planning to bowl the night away, have a meal in the snack bar, or enjoy our lounge, Nugget Lanes is a great place to have small or large group activities. Space can be reserved for birthday parties, FRG meetings or Unit parties. With several space and food options the staff will create the perfect event for your group.
Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC)
If you are an avid outdoors lover, complete novice, or somewhere in between and would like to get out and get active in Alaska's great outdoors, The Outdoor Recreation Center is the place to be. We offer gear rentals, adventure programs, clinics and trainings, Warrior Adventure Quest, and Women in the Wilderness Trips, and indoor climbing wall, customized trips, and more!
Parent and Outreach Services (CYSS)
Before children can receive any services on post they must be registered at Parent Central Services. Registration is free. Parent and Outreach Services is the gateway that connects Families to CYS Services programs. Its mission is to support Readiness and Well-Being of Families by helping to balance military mission requirements and parental responsibilities. Baseline Programs: Parent Central Services (formerly Central Enrollment), Kids At Home, Parents on Site, Kids on Site, School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration, and Skills (SKIES unlimited), CY Sitters, Parent Liaison Services, Community Liaison Services).
Physical Fitness Center (PFC)
Amenities Our Sports and Fitness Centers include: Free weights room, Cardio machines ,Classes, Group Cycling bikes, Nautilus circuit training room, Medicine balls and exercise mats ,Friendly customer service, Lockers (dressing rooms for male and female), Saunas (18 and older) Sports and Fitness Center use is free and open to all eligible Family and MWR authorized users (16 and older), including retirees and family members.

Ready and Resilient Performance Center (R2 Performance Center)
Ready and Resilient (R2) is the Army's strategy for strengthening individual and unit Personal Readiness and fostering a culture of trust. R2 provides training and resources to the Army Family to enhance resilience and optimize performance. Services include: Master Resilience Trainer Certification (MRT-C): certifies Soldiers to teach resilience skills to units and family members (completion earns Soldiers an 8R identifier; Leader Development Course: develops mental, performance and leadership skills for Soldiers in leadership roles; Deployment Cycle Resilience Training (DCRT): certifies 8R to teach DCRT, which help prepare Soldiers and family members for deployment and return; Performance Enhancement Training: series of lessons teaching the performance psychology skills of Mindset, Imagery, Attention Control, Building Confidence and Goal Setting (one-on-one or groups, compliments PT); Engage: bystander intervention training to promotion prosocial behavior in order to help others engaging in risk-taking behavior; Not in My Squad (NIMS): facilitated discussion to identify Battalion-Level themes related to mutual trust and cohesion in order to empower squad leaders, inform Command Teams and improve trust and cohesion in Battalions; Academic Performance Training (APT): series of lessons teaching academic based skills in order to improve memory and recall, enhance note taking, improve studying, reduce test-taking anxiety and improve mindset toward learning.

School Age Center (SAC)
SAC is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and serves children in Kindergarten through sixth grades. SAC provides before and after school care with age appropriate child centered activities. Stimulating activities are offered in a variety of environments which include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, games, technology, performing arts, science and a homework assistance program. A full size gymnasium is used by all ages for their physical development. The program provides opportunities to participate in 4H and Boys and Girls Clubs of America activities. SAC is also open full time during the summer and during school breaks to offer camps with a variety of activities and field trips.
School Support Services/ School Liaison Officer
School Support Services (SSS) provides Army school-aged youth with educational opportunities, resources and information necessary to achieve academic success. A branch of Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS), SSS is home to the School Liaison Office, where School Liaison Officers (SLOs) help deliver the best educational resources and information for your children.
Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Prevention (SHARP)
The Army’s SHARP program exists to prevent sexual harassment and sexual assaults before they occur. This program reinforces the Army’s commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through a comprehensive policy that centers on awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and accountability. Services are available for RESTRICTED (no command or law enforcement involvement) and UNRESTRICTED (full investigative process).
Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC)
The Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) is a one-stop location for Warriors in Transition and their Families to get information and assistance. The following services may be coordinated through the SFAC: Entitlement and benefits counseling, military personnel services (such as ID cards), Educational services, transition/employment assistance, financial counseling, substance abuse information, legal and pastoral services, child care referral, accept and manage donations.
Soldier for Life-Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP)
Assist Soldiers with the transition to civilian life to include resume assistance, education referral and support as the Soldiers ETS.
Soldiers Against Drug Driving (SADD)
A key BOSS program at Fort Wainwright, SADD is a volunteer-driven designated driver and call-in program to aid in preventing Soldiers from driving while intoxicated. NO-COST SERVICE. Services are available 11 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday; holiday schedule varies
Staff Judge Advocate (SJA)
Attorneys are available to provide advice and assistance concerning personal legal problems to service members, retirees and their dependents. The office provides advice and services that include notarization of documents, powers of attorney, wills, adoptions, divorces and dissolutions of marriage, child support, landlord-tenant and real estate matters, vehicle purchases, debt problems and other legal issues. Guidance is provided on myriad other legal situations, such as assistance on replies to financial liability investigations, NCOER and OER appeals, and obtaining stays of court proceedings under the Service members’ Civil Relief Act. State Environmental Health Laboratory
State Environmental Health Laboratory Each state has an environmental health laboratory that supports statewide environmental health protection monitoring by performing analyses for chemical, microbiological, and radiological testing, biomonitoring of water, wastewater, air, soil, hazardous wastes, and other environmental concerns. Many state environmental health laboratories are associated with that state’s public health laboratory.
State Epidemiologist
State Health Department Lead State Epidemiologist, each state has an appointed primary state epidemiologist, responsible for the identification and response for all health threats that occur within that state. This individual is selected by each state’s primary health official (usually the state health department director), or the state board of health. A state epidemiologist is usually responsible for each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program, often along with many other state health agency programs involved in disease detection and prevention.
State Public Health Laboratory
Each state has a public health laboratory that conducts laboratory testing for most all analysis requirements for public health surveillance. This may include monitoring and detection testing for environmental health, food safety, infectious diseases, newborn screening, public health preparedness, radiation safety, and many other tests. All state public health laboratories are part of the National Laboratory Network, and respond to novel strains of disease, natural disasters, chemical spills, foodborne outbreaks, and other public health emergencies.
Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care (SUDCC), Army Medical Department
SUDCC provides substance use disorder clinical care, including assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, aftercare, for Service Members within an integrated medical and behavioral health model to enhance health and readiness.
Survivor Outreach Services (SOS)
A multi-agency approach which embraces and reassures survivors that they are continually linked to the Army Family for as long as they desire. SOS fosters resiliency and ensures access to all entitled benefits, financial counseling/planning and long term support.
Teen Line
Established in 1980, TEEN LINE is a nonprofit, community-based organization helping troubled teenagers address their problems. It is our mission to provide personal teen-to-teen education and support before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, current technologies and community outreach.
Total Army Sponsorship Program (TASP)
The Total Army Sponsorship Program provides the structure and foundation for units to welcome and help prepare soldiers, civilian employees, and family members for their new duty station in advance of their actual arrival. This program is available to soldiers in the active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and civilian employees assigned to positions within the Department of the Army. The sponsor is the key to helping the new soldier, civilian employee, and family get comfortably settled as quickly as possible, thereby putting his mind at rest so he can concentrate on his new duties as soon as possible.

USO Alaska Fort Wainwright
The USO is a 501c3 nonprofit military support organization. The mission of the USO is to connect service members with family, home and country throughout their service to our nation. The Ft Wainwright USO hosts a wellness center complete with a child play area and fitness equipment. USO Alaska supported the USO mission by offering a variety of programs and outreach initiatives to ease the challenges of service for Alaska’s military. Staff and volunteers delivered toys and food to military families across the holidays and supported homecomings and deployments, facilitated baby showers, pet therapy and other events to help strengthen the resiliency of military families coping with the unique challenges of military life in Alaska.
VA Vet Center
Readjustment counseling - a wide range of psycho social services for eligible Veterans, Service members, and their families in an effort to make a successful transition from military to civilian life. Couseling services include: •Individual and group counseling for Veterans, Service members, and their families •Family counseling for military related issues •Bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death •Military sexual trauma counseling and referral •Outreach and education including PDHRA, community events, etc. •Substance abuse assessment and referral •Employment assessment & referral •VBA benefits explanation and referral •Screening & referral for medical issues including TBI, depression, etc.
Veterinary; Alaska District Veterinary Command
Provide accessible high quality veterinary service support for all DoD installations and certain Federal Agencies throughout Alaska. To conserve the fighting strength, protect the health and welfare of the military community and protect the financial interest of government at peace, war, international conflict, and natural or manmade disasters. Offer surgeries as well such as spays, neuters, mass removal, and dental for cats and dogs.
Victim Advocate 24/7
The Ft Wainwright Family Abuse Victim Advocate is available 24/7. The Victim Advocate is part of the installation Family Advocacy Program.
Warrior Zone
The Warrior Zone is a modern multi-purpose entertainment center for Soldiers to socialize in their free time. We offer the space to relax, play video games, surf the web, watch movies, and play various games such as billiards, table tennis, and poker. Troops gather to watch sporting events on several large, high-definition, flat-screen TVs, while eating, gaming, and mingling.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
Women, Infants and Children (WIC): WIC Supplementary Food Program is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, postpartum and breast-feeding mothers, and young children under the age of 5 eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. To apply, walk-ins are welcome just bring proof of income and identification.
Youth Center
Youth in 6th-12th grade are offered a range of positive options that promote healthy development and ease youth transition to adulthood. Youth Services Programs encompass a variety of safe, supervised alternatives (weekdays during out of school hours, evening, and weekends) . Baseline activities include youth councils and sponsorship, volunteer community services, games and leisure, technology lab, homework assistance, sports and fitness, and workforce preparation
Youth Sports and Fitness
Children between the ages of five and eighteen can be kept busy with the many team and individual sports offered by CYS Services Sports and Fitness. Through these activities youth engage in healthy physical activity, make friends, learn social and athletic skills as well as good sportsmanship. Sports offered include, but are not limited to, archery, indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, t-ball, baseball, flag football, basketball and cheerleading. In addition, Sport Development Programs are available to teach basic skills for youth ages three and four.
