English as a Second Language Class

Classes are offered to spouses and active duty military who want to increase their reading comprehension, vocabulary and pronunciation. Classes are appropriate for beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels with individualized group instruction.

Family Readiness Group Training and Support

Various Family Readiness Group training opportunities are available by ACS Mobilization, Deployment, and Support Stability Operations (MDSSO) to provide a comprehensive understanding of the roles, structure, and functions of the Rear-Detachment Command, Family Readiness Support Assistants, and Family Readiness Groups. Resource materials are also available and include activity books for children of all ages, "Quick Tip" cards, Pre-Deployment, Reunion, and Reintegration informational books, deployment calendars and Military Family Personal Organizers.

Financial Counseling

One-on-one counseling appointments available with accredited financial counselors that assist with establishing budgets, work with creditors, file consumer complaints, gather information on local consumer laws, empower Soldiers and Family members to make sound financial decisions, child care reduction, financial early return of dependents, car buying, credit repair, debt issues, investment planning, Thrift Savings Plan, home buying, insurance, college savings, debt liquidation/ bankruptcy, deployment, transition, relocation, check writing principles.

Lending Closet

Basic household goods items are available to borrow while waiting for your personal household goods to arrive or during departure. Kits are available based on Family size and include: pots and pans, dishes, silverware, small appliances, irons, iron boards, porta cribs, high chairs, and car seats. Towels, linens, pillows are not available, so these items should be packed in your hold baggage. ID Card and Copy of Orders required.

Mobilization, Deployment, and Support Stability Operations (MDSSO)

The MDSSO provides a variety of classes, interactive workshops, pre-deployment expos, reintegration workshops, and support services to assist Soldiers and their Family Members through the deployment / mobilization process. Ensures Soldier awareness of ACS Educational and Prevention Programs, Family Readiness Resources, and other military and Civilian resources through Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) and Reverse-SRP.

Pre- and Post-Deployment Support

ITC prepares volunteers to become instructors for the AFTB program. To become an AFTB Instructor individuals must take all three levels and then attend the ITC/BTC. Kilauea Military Camp (KMC)

Kilauea Military Camp (KMC) is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Oahu. Nestled in Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii, KMC is a cool retreat with a relaxed atmosphere and all the personal amenities to provide a delightful, restful and scenic vacation for the entire family. KMC offers tours, golfing, hiking, tennis, bowling, and a physical fitness center. KMC has a chapel, dispensary, gift shop, package store, service station, post office and general store. Each cabin has cable TV, a small refrigerator, and a fireplace. The climate at KMC is much cooler than Oahu, so bring appropriate clothing. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis and are taken by mail 120 days out or by telephone 90 days out.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Training APHN Education

Army Public Health Nursing supports the Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Training (P3T) program by providing education, support, and resources to assist Soldiers in maintaining optimal fitness during pregnancy and postpartum, and return a fit Soldier back to unit PT after post partum period.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Walk-in Screening Clinic

Confidential screening for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) at the Army Public Health Nursing (APHN) Screening Walk-in Clinic. The STI Screening Walk-in Clinic provides confidential screenings, testing, and education to those who believe they may have been exposed to STIs. The clinic offers another alternative to access medical care for STI screening / testing besides requesting assistance through unit providers.

Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP)

ASAP is a multi-faceted program comprised of non-clinical functions, including: Prevention Education, Suicide Prevention, Military and Civilian Drug Testing, Risk Reduction, and Employee Assistance. A related service is the Adolescent Support and Counseling Service (ASACS), a DA funded contract providing counseling services to Military Family Members 18 years and younger. See separate entry for ASACS.

Civilian Drug Testing

Civilian Drug Testing conducts drug and alcohol testing for Army Civilians assigned to testing designated positions, for pre-employment and random tests.

Employee Assistance Program

Employee assistance services to Department of Defense Civilians and their supervisors to include counseling, alcohol and drug referral, conflict resolution, consultation on workplace violence

Military Drug Testing

Military Drug Testing specimens are collected at the unit level, and turned in at ASAP, where specimens and documents are quality control inspected and processed for transport to the Forensic Drug Testing Laboratory. Testing is used to determine the presence of illicit substance(s) in urine, as well as the presence of alcohol in the breath.

Prevention and Education

The Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) Prevention and Education offers alcohol & drug prevention and education services. Units can obtain training materials, resources, and current information on drug and alcohol trends affecting the military community from this program. ASAP oversees Prime for Life, an evidence-based motivational prevention, intervention, and pretreatment program for high-risk individuals. Basic, as well as Advanced Unit Prevention Leader Training classes, are offered for individuals who oversee and conduct the unit urinalysis testing.

Risk Reduction Program (RRP)

The Risk Reduction Program (RRP) identifies installation and Soldier high risk behaviors as well as mitigation and prevention strategies to increase individual and mission readiness through the Commanders’ Risk Reduction Toolkit (CRRT). The CRRT is a comprehensive application within Army Vantage that provides Command Teams with Unit or Soldier data. CRRT access is granted by the RRP Coordinator. Also, the Unit Risk Inventory, an anonymous survey designed to screen for high-risk behaviors and useful in prevention efforts, is available to Commanders.

Suicide Prevention

The Suicide Prevention Program provides an array of trainings for suicide intervention skills, prevention, and follow-up in an effort to reduce the occurrence of suicidal behavior. Trainings available include: ACE (Ask, Care Escort), ACE-SI (Ask, Care, Escort - Suicide Intervention), and REACH (Resources Exist, Asking Can Help).

Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health Medicine

The Behavioral Medicine Program provides dianosis and treatment of a variety of health conditions. These service combine cognitive behavioral therapy with psychophysiologic recognition and regulation treatment of a variety of disorders including, but not limited to, migraine and tension headache, Raynaud's phenomenon, hypertension, paradoxical vocal cord disorder, irritable bowel syndrome and tinnitus. Psychiatric Inpatient and Psychiatric Nursing Service: This nursing service provides full range of psychiatric inpatient capabilities. Psychiatric emergency services are available 24/7 in conjunction with care in the Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) Emergency Room. Neuropsychology Service: Focuses on brain functioning and provides clinical data regarding known or suspected problems with the brain. Neuropsychological evaluation is often requested for persons with brain injury, stroke, infectious cns disease, dementia, seizures, brain tumors, movement disorders and for any other condition that may affect the brain. Emergency and Consultation/Liaison Service (Psychiatry): This service provides emergent assessment, crisis intervention and treatment to adults and children requiring acute intervention throughout TAMC and acts as a liaison between Department of Behavioral Health and Inpatient Wards of other departments at Tripler and provides psychiatric consultation, as required.

We provide behavioral health care along with effective consultation on behavioral health issues to commanders and other members of the local community.

Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Service

A collaborative care model of clinical service delivery for children and Families. Provides prevention services for issues like anger, stress, self-esteem issues, and grief and loss.

Embedded Behavioral Health

The Embedded Behavioral Health (EBH) Team provides multidisciplinary behavioral health care to Soldiers assigned to 2IBCT, 3IBCT, CAB, Fires and Sustainment Brigades, and 8TSC. Soldiers assigned to other units should contact the Multi-Disciplinary Clinic for support. The EBH team delivers safe and effective clinical care through evidence-based treatments for Soldiers and consultation for combat leaders; spearheading the Army's effort to increase resilience and reduce morbidity from psychiatric diseases. The Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care (SUDCC) Clinic, formerly known as Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), provides an evidence-based treatment format based on the American Society of Addictions Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria, along with the Joint Commission Association of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO) standards to ensure the quality of all services provided. This format stresses comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments and individualized variable treatment planning and programming, with emphasis on the least restrictive treatment setting. It is a multimodal approach consisting of psycho-education, training, and individual/ group counseling, with a special emphasis placed on involving those in rehabilitation in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous.

Family Advocacy Program - Treatment

Family Advocacy Program (FAP) provides services to all Active Duty Army in Hawaii and Family members. FAP is a DOD mandated program with a mission is to assess, support, and treat all incidents of child abuse/neglect and intimate partner violence. Services includes comprehensive psychosocial assessments, case management, and individual, marital, family, and group therapy.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Services

A comprehensive, psychiatric outpatient program for patients who need an intensive program, but do not require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Addictions Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program (AMIOP): A five week intensive, outpatient, level 2.5 American Society of Addiction Medicine Treatment program that provides comprehensive evaluation and addiction treatment services to eligible Tricare beneficiaries, ages 18-65 years old. AMIOP offers on/off-site Treatment Team Meetings and is accessible through referring Agencies of Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) (808) 433-8700, Navy Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) (808) 471-9002, Air Force Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT) Program (808) 449-0175, and Marine Corps Substance Abuse Counseling Center (SACC) (808) 257-3900.

Multi-Disciplinary Behavioral Health (MULTI-D)

The Multidisciplinary (MULTI-D) Behavioral Health Clinic is equipped with a team of providers, to include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and substance use counselors, to offer comprehensive behavioral healthcare for Active Duty Soldiers and Guard Members.

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS)

BOSS is a Morale, Welfare and Recreation program for single Soldiers. The program was designed to inspire and improve the quality of life of single soldiers through participation in off-duty leisure activities. The BOSS Council organizes and conducts fun activities (tours, tournaments, parties, and more). The Casualty Assistance Center (CAC) under the Directorate of Human Resources serves as the primary point of contact for surviving spouses of Active Duty and retired Service Members. The staff handles notification of next-of-kin, coordinates casualty assistance officers, and briefs surviving Family Members on their benefits, and arranges military honors with funeral homes for all deceased Army personnel (Active Duty, retirees, veterans).

Home School Beginner Ballet/Tap Combo Dance Class

An introduction to the basic fundamentals of ballet and tap dance. Primary ballet terms and positions are presented and reinforced. Tap skills focus on coordination, rhythm and clarity of sound. (1 hour)

Homework Help

Students will receive help with homework as well as time management and organizational skills, as they will learn how to identify urgent versus important homework. They'll leave each session with a checklist of what they completed and what they still need to accomplish. **All participants must be registered to CYS Services Child Youth and School Services Parent Central Services.

Hula Advanced (Pua ‘ilima)

This is the third level into Hula from the Intermediate class. Your child can only be personally invited to join this class by the Instructor. Your child has already encompassed proper Hula etiquette along with a strong sense of Hawaiian culture and values. Proficient in Hula basics, comprehends Hula songs, and capable of a solo performance. Introduction into Hawaiian chant. Average songs are at least 2-3 songs learned per month. (45 Minute Sessions)

Hula Babies (Pua Lokelani)

Hula students in this class learn to move and pantomime using proper technique. Developmentally the age-appropriate Hula steps, hand motions, and sing-along songs encompasses the Hawaiian culture and values. (45 Minutes)

Hula Intermediate (Pua Lehua

This is the second step into Hula from the novice class. Your child can only be personally invited to join this class by the Instructor. They must exemplify the ability to learn in a fast paced environment, self- directed, and motivated. Your child will develop a higher understanding of all that Hula encompasses. Hula etiquette, importance, variations with implements, history, translations, and language. Average songs are at least 1-2 songs learned per month. (45 Minute Sessions)

Hula is taught with the expectation that the student understands and knows the hula basics and Hawaiian language by command. Although Hula songs are taught at a novice, the average is at least 1 song per month. (45 Minute Sessions)

Kids on Site (KOS)

Kids on Site (KOS) provides on-site child care during meetings and social gatherings that meet the needs of the Hawaii Army community. Parent Central Registration

Parent Central Registration is a one stop office for information and availability of on and off post child and youth programs. Annual registration is required to participate in Child Youth and School Services activities. The Parent Services Central Office provides common support services for other Outreach Services (OS) systems to include parent education services, CYS Services volunteer services, child care resources and referral services.

Readers Theatre - Tutoring Program

Students will read and discuss a variety of plays across an array of themes, ranging from historical biographies to classic fiction and modern stories. Reader’s theater helps students find a creative outlet to express themselves while working on language skills, reading comprehension skills, and reading fluency. **All participants must be registered to CYS Services Child Youth and School Services Parent Central Services.

Before and after school programs and out of school care options for children in grades K-5. Through partnerships with National 4-H, CHARACTER COUNTS, and Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the program helps children learn to work with their strengths, interests, and each other, to feel good about themselves, and to grow as individuals. Programs are offered in the core areas of leisure, recreation, and the arts; sports and fitness; life skills, citizenship and leadership; and mentoring and support services. The Hawaii program is 100% accredited through the National Council on Accreditation.

Science Fun - Tutoring Program

Strong Beginnings Pre-Kindergarten Class

Toddler Dance Class - Rhythm and Motion

A parent assisted pre-dance class introduces toddlers to the world of dance through movement, music and structured activities that enhance both gross and fine motor skills. We sing, dance and explore rhythm through familiar songs while gently introducing fundamental ballet. (45 minutes)

Youth Babysitting Course

Youth participants learn the important skills necessary to provide excellent babysitting services to family, friends and neighbors. Participants will receive hands-on training in a fun learning environment using the Army babysitting curriculum. Parent/guardian must register with Army CYS and sign the Babysitting Referral List Release Form. Per child supervision policy, teens ages 13 and older may be added to the CYS sitter list. A parent/guardian of a 12 year old student may complete the referral list form when their child turns 13.

Youth Acting Lessons - Theatre 1

Basic acting skills and terminology, including but not limited to improvisation, pantomime, monologues and scenes. During a show, this serves as the rehearsal time for the younger ensemble and featured roles. (1 hour sessions)

Youth Ballroom Performance Class

Preparation class for our semi-annual dance performances. Dancers will learn and rehearse a choreographed dance in one particular style and specialize in performance technique. Dual registration in Social/Ballroom Dance is required.

Youth Beginner Ballet/Tap Combo Dance Class

An introduction to the basic fundamentals of ballet and tap dance. Primary ballet terms and positions are presented and reinforced. Tap skills focus on coordination, rhythm and clarity of sound. (1 hour)

Youth Centers

A comprehensive, supervised Army program targeting youth who are generally between the ages of 12-18. The program operates supervised fun, safe, recreational and learning opportunities that assist with the development of eligible youth outside the school hours. The program offers a wide range of positive options that promote healthy youth development and ease youth transition to adulthood. To participate in youth center programs you must register by filling out a Youth Program Registration and Sponsor Consent Form. This can be done at your local CYS Parent Central Services Office located at Building 1283, phone 655-5314 or at AMR, Building 1782, phone 833-5393. There are no registration or monthly user fees.

Youth Dance Class - Hip Hop Dance Class

An explosive, funky dance style that combines memory, coordination, rhythm and lots of energy! The class will incorporate strength building and flexibility into floor progressions and fun choreographed combinations. Skills are appropriate to each age category. (1 hour)

Youth Dance Class - The Art of Middle Eastern Dance

Students learn the basic elements and combinations of Middle Eastern Dance, emphasizing the isolation of hips, stomach and chest. The music during the class ranges from traditional belly dance and drums, Latin and R and B. Benefits to the class are better awareness of the body, flexibility, and confidence. (1 hour)

Youth Drum Lessons

Beginning drum students will start with concepts that include - how to hold sticks, keeping tempo, counting beats, understanding rhythm patterns, snare drum rudiments, hi-hat and cymbal techniques. Students are also introduced to important musical concepts that will preparing them for their roles "the drummer" in a band. These concepts include - dynamics, playing with feel/groove, and song from. Drums is designed for anyone who wants to play drums in a band. Students will explore topics such as finding the” pocket”, building a “groove”, fill-ins, soloing, and the art of practice. Ages 7-18. Students must bring their own drum sticks. (45 Minute Sessions)

Youth Fitness Program - "Fit EDGE!"

Fit EDGE! educates and encourages children and youth to incorporate a healthier lifestyle through physical activity and nutritional awareness programs. Suggested programming options might include adventure sports, aerobics, body sculpting, bowling, customized fitness programs, golf, nutrition programs, strength training, stress management, team and pick-up sports, weight management, weight training, yoga, etc.

Youth Group Music Lessons - Rock School

RockSchool was created with the understanding that for a student to have the most enjoyable and rewarding musical experience, they must do more than just take lessons and practice. At RockSchool we have made performing live in your own rock band a reality. When we say live in concert, we mean it. RockSchool students get to play live on stage with a professional sound system and real lights for a real audience. If given the choice, it makes sense that a student would want to play the music they love and actually listen to, not music that they have no interest in. RockSchool covers all types of “popular” music - Rock, Pop, Country, Hard Rock, Alternative, RandB, Hip Hop, and more… RockSchool students remain passionate about their music by playing contemporary repertoire. As a result, they are motivated to practice and keep expanding their skills as a musician. Ages 7-18 (45 minute sessions)

Youth Guitar Lessons

Intro To Guitar will introduce students to basic rhythm and strumming patterns. Students will also learn basic reading of tablature and rhythm notation, as well as beginning chord theory. In an ensemble atmosphere, students will gain a keen sense for harmony, tempo and dynamics. Students play along with pre-recorded backing tracks as the instructor walks thru song form and demonstrates required playing techniques at the same time lyrics, chords and tablature are laid out. Ages 7-18 BASS Students must bring their guitar to class; if electric they do not bring their amp, just their cord (45 Minute Sessions)

Youth Intermediate Ballet/Tap Combo Dance Class

This class builds upon the basic ballet and tap skills introduced at the beginner level. Ballet includes an introduction to barre work, center floor combinations, and proper turning technique. Tap involves more advanced steps and combinations across the floor. Instructor permission required.

Youth Keyboarding Lessons

Keyboarding is a great alternative to traditional piano methods that assume every student wants to be a classical pianist. Students learn note reading, chord theory and improvisation, while playing music ranging from Bach to Rock. Intro To Keyboard utilizes the latest multi-media technology to create a new learning experience for piano students that teaches basic piano skills, music theory, and makes playing fun. Students will not only learn how to read music, but also how to create their own original compositions. Ages 7-18 Students will be provided a keyboard in class. Must have access to a keyboard to practice at home (45 minute sessions)

Youth Language Classes

These classes are for children ages 5 through 18. Children engage with the teacher and each other while singing songs, playing games, and participating in a variety of arts and crafts activities. In these classes children are also introduced to basic reading and writing skills.

Life EDGE! imparts upon children and youth the skills needed for life-long growth as well as the exploration of future career fields. Youth Mini Mozart Music Lessons

Mini-Mozarts is designed to create an active interest and appreciation in music for young beginners while providing the student with a solid foundation for more advanced music education. Children at the ages of four and five absorb and retain sounds better than at any other time in their lives, which makes it the perfect time to start music lessons. These in-class musical experiences will encourage creativity, discipline, music appreciation, and help instill the basis for playing and expression through feeling and understanding music. Modern dance is an art form that evolves from the natural ability that the individual has to move by his/her motivation and inspiration by music, rhythm and creativity. Modern dance requires technique, body placement conditioning, flexibility and performance skills. An Alternate movement class that incorporates elements of speech and behavioral therapy with dance to promote social skills development, communication, body awareness and sustained attention. In this class, the child learns to apply movement to channel his/ her energy into expressive movements.

Youth sponsors help with the relocation of youth so that they can become more familiar with their new home in Hawaii. Sponsors are matched to youth according to their gender, age, and interests. The sponsor escorts incoming youth around the post, school area, and to Child Youth and School Services facilities and events. Coping with and Overcoming Pain Effectively (COPE)

Coping with and Overcoming Pain Effectively (COPE) is a 6-week outpatient group education program for chronic pain, which is one of many recommendations in the TAMC Pain Rehabilitation Program, but it is an important introduction to the program. Each class is 90-minutes in length. Each class is focused on techniques to enhance pain control and improve quality of life. Topics covered include the effects of chronic pain and stress on our bodies, how to reduce these effects of stress, improving sleep and mood, diet and nutrition, remaining fit, dealing with pain flare ups, and the role of medications. Members will practice in class and be asked to apply the things they have learned in group in the following week. Family members are encouraged to attend, as everyone in the family is affected by pain in one family member.

U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) established a Housing Environmental Health Response Registry to address Army Family concerns about housing and related health issues. Information in the Registry will enable MEDCOM to provide you additional information on housing environmental health hazards, assist you in seeking medical care for any housing-related illnesses or concerns, and allow MEDCOM to share your concerns about housing environmental health hazards with Army leadership. The Marriage and Family Therapy Center provides therapeutic support to service personnel and their spouses on a voluntary, self-referral basis. Marital and family treatment is offered in a confidential atmosphere.

The Wounded Warrior Ombudsmen serve as a local resource, facilitator, and problem solver for Service Members and their Families. Ombudsmen are located in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and serve as a liaison between MEDCOM, the Soldier and Family member, the MTF commander, and the Warrior in Transition Unit (WTU) commander. Command Sponsorship Consultation

The Installation Sponsorship liaison office serves as a liaison / integrator for incoming and outgoing Soldiers between losing and gaining commands. This helps commanders exercise their responsibility to assist newcomers and out-processing personnel relocate and transition effectively; The installation sponsorship liaison coordinates losing/gaining unit sponsorship, receives assignments, assignment notification, eligibility verification, monitors the Army Career Tracker (ACT) system. The Sponsorship process begins upon receipt of reassignment notification from Human Resources Command (HRC) and ends when the Soldier of Family have successfully integrated into the unit. Soldiers conducting a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) are notified of Assignment Instructions (AI) prompting them to complete DA Form 5434, Sponsorship Program Counseling and Information Sheet) in the Army Career Tracker (ACT) Sponsorship Module. Sponsors assist newcomers with information regarding housing, schools, medical and other installation programs prior to arriving at a new duty location. Sponsors selected will be in a grade equal to or higher than the incoming Soldier or civilian employee, when practical; Of the same gender, marital status, and military career field or occupational series as the incoming Soldier or Civilian employee, when feasible. Family Travel

The Family Travel Section under the Directorate of Human Resources assists Soldiers and Family Members with Early Return of Dependents, Command Sponsorship, Family Member and Space A Travel, Dependent Student Travel Program, Soldier Actions, Compassionate Reassignments.

Identification Card Facilities

ID card appointments, issue, renew, replace; DEERS services / enrollment for eligible military card holders.

Installation Voting Assistance Office (IVAO)

Provides information on voter registration and the absentee ballot procedures; Provides material on the voting process, requesting absentee ballot and mailing the completed forms.

Out-Processing

The installation out-processing clearance process ensures all Soldiers are free of debt or obligations prior to their departure from the installation, provide Clearing Papers (DA Form 137-2/137-1), provides individual retirement counseling, assist transitioning Soldiers to new location/units, provides individual transition counseling, Passport / Neutralization.

Passport and Naturalization Office

The Passport Office only accepts and processes applications for official, no-fee, and diplomatic passports for U.S. Citizens (native born, naturalized, American Samoa, Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico). Passports for unofficial/leisure travel must be applied for through a local U.S Post Office or Hawaii Public Library.

Reassignments

The Reassignments Section under the Directorate of Human Resources ensures that all Soldiers on Assignment Instructions (AI) have a smooth and timely Permanent Change of Station (PCS) transition. The Reassignment Work Center conducts levy briefs and coordinates with Installation Sponsorship, Out-processing Coordinators, and Unit Sponsorship Coordinator (losing/gaining) to collaborate and monitor Army Career Tracker (ACT) Sponsorship process.

Retirement Services

The mission of the Retirement Services Office (RSO) is to provide quality and exceptional service to all retiring/retired Soldiers, their family members and widows with up-to-date information on authorized retirement benefits and entitlements they have earned serving our nation.

Soldier Readiness Processing and Mobilization

The Soldier Readiness Processing and Mobilization section under the Directorate of Human Resources validates Soldiers processing for deployments, reintegrates redeploying Soldiers, and coordinates with legal, finance, dental, personnel, ACS, Medical Operations, Chaplain Services, and ID Cards / DEERS.

Transition Center

The mission of the Transition Center is to provide separation services to all Soldiers of the Pacific Rim. The section processes ETS, Retirements, Release from Active Duty (REFRAD), Medical Separations, Discharge/Retirement, Chapter Eliminations (both voluntary and involuntary separations), mobilized RC Soldiers, and release and retirement of AGR Soldiers. The Transition Center issues DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), discharge certificates, retirement flags, pins and certificates.

The US Army Garrison - Hawaii (USAG-HI) Chaplains have partnered with the 25th ID Chaplains to provide a Food Pantry for all deserving Soldiers and Families serving within US Army - Hawaii (USARHAW) to assist with immediate food care needs. Contact your unit Chaplain or Religious Affairs Specialist for access to the Chaplains' Food Pantry, or the on-call duty Chaplain through the Installation Operation Center at 808-656-3272. Donations are accepted at the Main Post Chapel at Schofield Barracks, the Wheeler Army Airfield Chapel, and all Island Palm Community Center locations.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)

Exceptional Family Member Program

EFMP Housing Support assists with requests for special modifications or accommodations including exceptions to policy. Connects EFMP clients to resources for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) issues. EFMP Recreational Activities are organized with special needs in mind. A variety of activities such as EFMP Movie Day, EFMP Bowling, "Let's Make Sense of It", and EFMP Lei Making are offered for small groups. Families are referred to appropriate community activities and organizations to accommodate special needs. EFMP Training Workshops are facilitated to share information from local organizations and educate participants on behavior management, guardianship/ transfer of rights, Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other topics. The EFMP Support Groups allows Soldiers and Family members to meet other individuals enrolled in the program and build support and friendships. The EFMP Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Advocacy program provides support with IEPs, assistance with geographic exceptions to policy, provides information for tutoring or other educational services, and ensuring all educational needs are being supported by the Hawaii Department of Education. EFMP Systems Navigator: Systems Navigation is a community support component of the EFMP that connects Families with special needs to the systems of care they need, both on and off the installation. Systems Navigators are Army Community Service (ACS - EFMP) staff members located on the installation. They are trained and knowledgeable about the systems of care used by Families through the available systems of care. Active Duty Army, Reserve, and Guard Families are eligible for Systems Navigation assistance regardless of their Exceptional Family Member's (EFM) medical and/or special education condition. All services are provided at no cost to Families.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Respite Care

The Respite Care Program provides a temporary rest period for Active Duty Army, Guard, and Reserve Families who are responsible for the regular care of persons with disabilities. Care is provided in the family’s home. Respite care is important because it decreases family stress, increases family stability, and reduces costly out-of-home placements. Thereby, contributing to Soldier readiness. Once eligibility is determined a staff member will meet with the Family Member and/or Soldier to complete a Family Services Needs Assessment. An individual may receive 25 hours of respite care a month. Families enrolled in the EFMP may apply for EFMP Respite Care using DA Form 4700, DA Form 5189, and DD Form 2870.

Exceptional Family Member Program (Medical Screening)

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) screening section identifies and documents the special medical, mental health and/or educational needs of Family Members, to ensure needs are considered during the assignment process. Enrollment in EFMP is mandatory for all Family Members of Active Duty Service Members with needs requiring specialized services.

Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT)

Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT) is required when enrolling a child with disabilities in CYS Services. The MIAT process supports the Parent, EFMP, and CYS Service staff in working together to develop a support plan and implement appropriate accommodations that will ensure the child’s health and safety needs are met in the center programs.

Victim Advocates (VA) assist victims of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse and their non-offending parent(s) by providing emotional support during medical treatment, forensic interviews, legal processes and court proceedings. VAs also provide resource information and referral services for local private and public child and Family programs.

Domestic Violence SAFE LINE / Victim Advocacy Program

The Victim Advocacy Program offers support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through their SAFE Line. If you are a victim of spouse abuse, you have choices. Victim Advocates are trained professionals who provide non-clinical advocacy services and support to Soldiers and Family Members experiencing domestic abuse.

The Auto Crafts Centers at Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks are equipped with the tools and equipment to perform most types to do-it-yourself automotive repair on privately owned vehicles. Services and repair facilities are provided, including lubrication and oil change, tire rotation / changing / balancing, body and paint work, transmission repair, engine tune-up, engine overhaul, air conditioning services, and other types of repairs. The two facilities are certified as Safety Inspection Stations for the State of Hawaii.

Automotive Preventive Maintenance Class for Teens and Family Members

Health and Fitness Center

The Family and MWR fitness program oversees six physical fitness centers that offer equipment, classes and personalized services available seven days a week. Schofield Barracks Health and Fitness Center is the answer to all your fitness needs! We offer scheduled aerobics classes, personal training programs and a wide range of fitness equipment. Our center also features a large TRX training area for utilization.

Intramural Sports Program

The Family and MWR Sports Office coordinates a wide variety of intramural, interservice, and All Army sports program leagues scheduled throughout the year. Leagues are offered for sports like softball, soccer, flag football and volleyball, and they also offer a number of special programs and tournaments scheduled throughout the year.

Learn to Swim Programs

Summer learn to swim programs are offered at all pools every year. Classes are available for all skill levels, from Level one, Introduction to Water Skills, all the way through Level 6, Swimming and Skill Proficiency. Classes are designed for children as young as age 3. Adult swimming classes and private lessons are also available. Children must be registered with Child, Youth and School Services in order to participate. Advanced registration is required, and due to the popularity of these programs, registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Schedules and exact times and dates change year to year, but classes typically start at Richardson Pool on Schofield Barracks as early as March and in the other pools starting in June. Class sessions at all pools continue to be available through September of each year.

Leilehua Golf Course

One of the most challenging championship courses in Hawaii, and an 18 hole course located off H-2 near Wheeler Army Airfield. The golf complex consists of a 6,916 yard par 72 course, a driving range, three huge practice putting greens and a practice sand bunker. The newly renovated clubhouse has a complete pro shop and shower facilities for both men and women. The restaurant and bar will accommodate 200 people for parties and banquets. Tournaments or club event bookings are taken one year in advance.

Leisure Travel Services (LTS)

The Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks LTS offices sell tickets for luaus, Sea Life Park and other Oahu attractions, as well as, Southern California amusement parks and vouchers for nearby hotels. In addition LTS can arrange inter island vacation packages, airfare and cruises to a variety of worldwide destinations. Check the LTS website often for deals and specials.

US Army - Hawaii Libraries provide services and materials in a variety of formats to support the information, education, and recreation needs of the Hawaii Army community. The main library, SGT Yano, is located at Schofield Barracks. Branch libraries are located at Fort Shafter and Aliamanu Military Reservation. Stop by the library to find materials for every age and interest.

Neighborhood Watch Program

U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii’s Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) has community-oriented policing officers dedicated to the revamped Neighborhood Watch Program in area north, headquartered out of Schofield Barracks, and area south, headquartered out of Fort Shafter. The Neighborhood Watch Program is a network of neighbors, trained by crime prevention officers from DES, who serve as additional eyes and ears in their communities. Drunk Driving Prevention Program (DDPP)

The Drunk Driving Prevention Program is a national non-profit charity. Sign up online to be able to have you and your car driven home for free. Volunteer to be a designated driver. All hours are documented and can be applied towards the military outstanding volunteer service medal. The Drunk Driving Prevention Program (DDPP) provides rides anywhere on Oahu every Friday and Saturday night from 10:30 pm until 3:30 am. You must sign up and agree to our liability waiver online while sober before you can request a ride. The DDPP is also available to participate in unit events and booths.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a tool to communicate the status of local air quality to the public—the Air Quality Index (AQI). Operation READY

“READY” stands for “Resources for Educating About Deployment and You.” It’s a training and information resource developed from lessons learned in the Persian Gulf War and used in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) / Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). The training covers learning about the types of military separation, planning and preparing personal documents, and completing family financial arrangements.

State Epidemiologist

State Health Department Lead State Epidemiologist is an appointed primary state epidemiologist, responsible for the identification and response for all health threats that occur within that state. This individual is selected by each state’s primary health official (usually the state health department director), or the state board of health. A state epidemiologist is usually responsible for each state’s infectious disease epidemiology program, often along with many other state health agency programs involved in disease detection and prevention.

State Public Health Laboratory

Master Resilience Trainer Course (MRT-C) is a 10-day course conducted by the R2PC on a quarterly basis. The course teaches participants 14 Resilience Skills, including Hunt the Good Stuff, Detect Icebergs, Effective Praise, and Assertive Communication; at the conclusion of the course, participants are awarded the 8R identified, enabling them to conduct annual resilience training (per AR 350-53). Ready and Resilient Performance Center (R2PC) Master Resilience Trainer Performance-Expert (MRT-PEs) are available to conduct Quality Assessment/Quality Enhancement (QA/QE) for Master Resilience Trainers (MRTs) (i.e., 8-Romeos) teaching Resilience training at the Unit Level to help prepare for unit level Resilience training and provide feedback for sustains and improves upon completion of the training in order to maximize the effectiveness of future Resilience trainings. The MRT-PEs coach the MRTs throughout the training and provide support before, during, and after each class wherever the training is being conducted, and maintain contact with 8-Romeos as they prepare for Resilience training.

Directorate of Installation Safety (DIS)

The Directorate of Installation Safety (DIS) provides safety guidance for the Army in Hawaii. Key services include workplace safety training for US Army Garrison - Hawaii (USAG-HI) employees, help with writing new safety processes or procedures, facility inspections, facility work orders for unsafe conditions, Collateral or Additional Duty Safety Officer (CDSO/ADSO) online training support, accident reporting, traffic safety training, and motorcycle training courses.

Driver Improvement / Remedial Driver Training

This training class is for remedial drivers and for those who have accidents with government-owned vehicles or have been identified as high-risk drivers by their commanders. This class may meet court requirements, contact your court admin office to verify.

Experienced Rider Course

This course is designed for EXPERIENCED MOTORCYCLE RIDERS using your own cruiser / standard motorcycle. Sport-Bike riders must enroll in the Military Sport-Bike Rider Course. The course is one day with a minimum class size of six riders. If class size minimum is not met the course will be cancelled the day of training. The training is held entirely on motorcycle range, Area X, for approximately 7 hours of riding and discussion which begins promptly at 0800. Student s must wear the proper PPE and your motorcycle must pass a safety technical inspection conducted at the course.

Intermediate Drivers Training - Motorcycle Safety Course

Meets Army traffic safety training requirements for course 3a. Class starts promptly at 0900 and is 1.5 hrs. video with discussion and workbook activity.

Military Sports Bike Rider Course

This course is to polish skills for experienced active duty Army riders only and meets the new sustainment training requirements. This class is only for sport bikes, though dual sports and sport tourers may attend if high performance street tires are used. Class starts in classroom with discussion and goes to range after lunch for riding of 9 difficult exercises. The riding exercises will use all of the available tire, so good tires and bike maintenance is a must. Motorcycles will be given a brief tech inspection prior to class. For your safety, if your skills are not up to continuing the class you will be excused at the end of the first or second riding exercise.

Motorcycle Basic Rider Course

Class is for beginner or inexperienced riders on their motorcycle or on training motorcycle (limited availability). Two day class requires a minimum of six riders. If minimum riders are not met class will cancel, even on start day. You may use your own bike (preferred, check block below) or training bike provided by course. Army regulations allow student to ride motorcycle directly to class for training. Class begins in classroom, Hut S-25 Area X promptly at 0800. Student must supply PPE (helmets/gloves are available), if using own motorcycle, a brief technical inspection will be done.

School Support Services is a branch of Child, Youth and School Services (CYS) Services. The program is responsible for the coordination and assistance of Army school-age youth with educational opportunities and information necessary to achieve academic success. United Service Organization (USO) - Pohakuloa Training Area

USO Pohakuloa Training Area is located on the Big Island of Hawaii. This center focuses on serving the military conducting training on the Big Island. USO PTA is the sole location on the base to connect service members to family, home, and country. Additionally, service members have access to free beverages, snacks, much-needed WiFi connection, and a comfortable place to relax. The USO PTA has varying hours of service due to military rotational needs. Please call ahead to ensure the center is open during the time you wish to visit.

The USO Honolulu Center is located on the ground floor of the Honolulu International Airport between Baggage Claims 19 and 20. This USO center can be service members first and last stop on the island. Every day the USO Honolulu center offers a hot meal and can provide information for a traveling service member and their families. USO Honolulu is open Monday-Sunday from 0800-2000. We recently expanded our services to Tripler Medical Center, providing support to the military caregivers.

VA Pacific Islands Health Care System

The VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) Honolulu provides a broad range of medical care services, serving an estimated 31,000 Veterans throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. The VAPIHCS provides outpatient medical and mental health care through our main Ambulatory Care Clinic on Oahu (Honolulu) and through seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) including: Hawaii (Hilo and Kona), Maui, Kauai, and Guam. Traveling clinicians also provide episodic care on Lanai and American Samoa. A fee basis Internist residing on Molokai provides medical care eight hours/week at the Molokai Rural Health Center. Mental health care is provided by traveling clinicians from the Maui CBOC. Long-term and transitional rehabilitative care services are provided by the VA 60-bed Center for Aging, located on the Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) grounds. VA staffed inpatient psychiatric care and partial hospitalization care are also provided within a 20-bed VA operated ward in Tripler Army Medical Center. A 16-bed VA Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Residential Rehabilitation Program formerly in Hilo, on the island of Hawaii, has been successfully relocated to a VA Ward with TAMC on Oahu in December 2005. Medical inpatient care for Veterans is provided by VA hospitalists and Department of Defense (DoD) physicians in TAMC through a VA/DoD sharing agreement, or through non-VA care providers in the community. Home Based Primary Care is provided on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii (Hilo and Kona) and Kauai (Lihue).
