Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) Boating Safety Course
Open to the public (unless course certification is desired). Certification is required to operate a boat in Texas. Every Texas boater under 17 years of age or born on/or after 1 September 1993, must successfully complete an approved boat education course. All boaters, regardless of age, must complete the Boater Safety Test. The law is in effect for boats of 15 horsepower or more, windblown vessels over 14 feet and personal watercraft (i.e. jet ski). Course given by Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA), Camping
There are several acres of land to camp on at BLORA. Daily and/or monthly RV or tent camping fees are paid at the Administration Office. A permit will be issued to validate payment of the camping fee. This permit should be placed in the window of your vehicle. There are 53 RV pads with electric and water hookups. Two dump stations are conveniently located in the park area. There are 11 additional RV pads with full hookups (electric, water and sewer connections). There are 6 designated camping areas for tent campers. Several of the RV pads have been renovated to accommodate tent camping. There are also other available sites for tent camping with water and electric hook-ups and primitive RV/tent camping. BLORA’S Tent Camping Policy: BLORA’S tent camping policy authorizes incoming tent campers to occupy and set up a tent camp site from sun up to sun down. BLORA tent campers need to be set up and in place at least one hour prior to designated quiet hours of 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

BLORA has mountain biking trails to promote the recreational activity of mountain bicycle riding at Fort Hood. This trail system accommodates riders of all skill and endurance levels, from the first time rider to the advanced racer. Â There are several trail loops ranging from four miles to 14 miles containing designated, marked trails for novice, intermediate, and advanced riders.

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA), Pavilions
BLORA has ten open pavilions, one enclosed pavilion (with central air/heat and built-in kitchens/restroom), and two partially enclosed pavilions (with built-in kitchens and restrooms) which are excellent for unit or large private gatherings. The pavilions are scattered throughout the BLORA park area. Most of them have athletic fields, playgrounds and permanent restrooms. All the pavilions have utilities (water and electricity). Some pavilions are located within 200 yards of other activities, such as, Sierra Beach, snack bar, boat dock and fishing marina. Pavilions must be reserved in advance by reservations at the Administration Office. Several of the pavilion sites are handicapped accessible and are available daily throughout the year.

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA), Phantom Phlume Waterslide
Phantom Phlume Waterslide is a waterslide facility that is available at BLORA. It is equipped with two 300 foot waterslide flumes that drop into a four foot deep pool. Patrons must be at least 42 inches tall to ride the slides. Actual opening and closing dates of waterslide activity will be announced prior to the beginning of the summer season. A Kid’s Auto Wash Unit is available for kids under 42 inches tall.

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA), Picnic Shelters
There are 203 covered Family picnic shelters (45 at Sierra Beach) and 300+ picnic tables scattered throughout BLORA for recreational users. Many of the picnic tables have barbecue grills, as well as trees to provide shade. All picnic sites are on a first-come, first served basis and are free of charge. The majority of picnic sites provide a nice view of Belton Lake.

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA), Sierra Beach Swimming Area
Sierra Beach Swimming Area is the only authorized swimming area at BLORA. This water fun activity is free to park patrons. The water of Sierra Beach offers a wonderful swimming and sunbathing experience. The safe swimming area is well marked and the sandy beach is policed daily. A large restroom area is available. A snack bar with a covered patio deck is located at Sierra Beach to provide you with snacks, beverages and a scenic view of Belton Lake. This area is equipped with 45 Family picnic shelters (several of which are handicapped accessible). Swimming is not allowed when lifeguards are not on duty. Fishing on Fort Hood
All persons fishing on lakes, ponds, and streams of Fort Hood must possess a valid Texas State Fishing License (except those exempted by the state), Area Access Permit and the Fort Hood Fishing Permit. However, no Fort Hood Fishing Permit or Area Access Permit is required if a person is fishing the waters of Belton Lake within the confines of BLORA, only a state fishing license is required and a daily entry receipt (if applicable). Only a state fishing license and Area Access Permit is required if a person is fishing the waters of Belton Lake adjacent to Training Area 8 East of Curry Crossing (no Fort Hood Fishing Permit is required for this area). All persons will abide by State/Fort Hood bag limits, possession limits, and area access procedures, as well as, all State and Federal fishing regulations. The lakes, ponds, and streams closed to fishing will be identified by “NO FISHING” signs. Manually propelled boats are authorized on most Fort Hood lakes, ponds, and streams.

Hood Howdy Information Fair
This bi-Annual event is a Newcomer's Information Fair conducted by ACS Relocation Readiness Program in partnership with Family and Morale, Welfare Recreation. “Saddle Up for the Ride” is a new theme for the event, featuring a Texas style welcome. Hood Howdy provides newcomers and the community an abundance of information for “The Great Place”. Information from over 150 agencies and commercial sponsors, including the local Chambers of Commerce, housing, emergency services, commissary and medical services. In addition, Family and MWR agencies are available to provide in-depth information regarding their services, such as: financial counseling, recreational activities, job search assistance, and Child Youth School Services. Hunt and Saddle Stables
The 76-stall Hunt and Saddle Stables is located east of the Visitor Center at the main gate. The stables are designed for boarding privately owned horses. The facility offers a tack room with attached paddock for each horse. VETERINARY REQUIREMENTS:
Quarantine: Your horse will stay in quarantine for 10 days and will be examined by the Base Veterinarian per Army regulations; Proof of a negative coggins test, within (30) days prior to arrival; coggins and shots due before entry into the Hunt and Saddle Stables (but can be obtained during the 10 day quarantine at the Fort Hood Vet facility); proof of deworming must be turned in before entering the stables; health certificate and specific immunizations (6 way, rabies and west Nile) are also required. Hunting on Fort Hood
The Hunt Control Center is located in the Sportsmen's Center Pro Shop. Hunt Control provides information on hunting and fishing requirements on Fort Hood and administers both gun and archery annual turkey and deer hunting programs. Hunt Control runs Tele Trac - the hunting area reservation telephone registry system. Hunting guidelines: 1. Phantom Warrior Lanes has 48 lanes and automatic scoring boards displayed on 42-inch flat screen monitors. Sportsmen's Center
The Sportsmen's Center encourages and furthers the interest in hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreation activities. The facility is devoted to the conservation and presentation of wildlife, their habitats and environment; the sports of hunting, fishing and archery; and the recreational use of guns for skeet, trap or other target shooting. The club offers a gathering place for sportsmen, complete with snack bar, pro shop, hunt control office and skeet range. Zumba
Ditch the workout, Join the party! A fusion of hypnotic Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
